Title: This Week's Haul (12/20)
Post by: bork on December 20, 2007, 12:24:01 AM
Picked up the following today:

Patapon (PSP)

Rhythm/action game from Sony with a rather unique look.  Is this made by the same people behind Loco Roco, by any chance?

Yukinko Daisenpuu(Wii)

AKA "New" Pocky And Rocky.

Unreal Tournament III (PS3) should be here tomorrow, can't wait!

i wonder if the artist formerly known as kikikaikai turned out ok. famitsu gave it fives and sixes, which either means that the publisher forgot to send the check or that it doesn't even boot up properly. i think they're calling it 'heavenly guardian' here -- ps2 release in january

Yeah, I don't know how it's going to be...about to try it out.  Famitsu reviews mean nothing to me.  The magazine is nice for info and pictures, I guess.

Yukinko Daisenpuu is 480i ONLY and 4:3 aspect ratio ONLY.  I get huge, ugly black borders on the screen.  Yuck.   :-\

The game play seems okay.  It's mimicking Kikkikakai pretty decently...it's like a 2000 yen game that they were selling for 5000 yen.  :/

Patapon seems pretty promising.  Basically, you input four-button combinations, like [][][]O and O[]OO to the rhythm to control the little tribesmen and make them move forward and attack things in their way.  I'm digging it more than Loco Roco.
