I got mine for 23.99 from Gamefly.
tips: chuck your bard, put your survialist in the back row, and bring in a protector for font line defense, while your survivalist and alchemist hit from the back row. try and maximise your medics Immunise and salve skills 1st, Immunise will win you any boss fight almost
there are really good party structure/ class build tips on the gamefaqs board for this game, some very thorough stuff there.
and congrats on finally playing the GOTY
Oh fuck. You get a little ways in, thinking "I'm starting to feel the groove" and it's still tough, but you're holding up. And then you hit the first FOE. And the game is like, "Nah, bitch, you ain't seen shit!" and you get totally fucking shut up.
And then you hit the first FOE.
FOE
FOE
FOE!!!
I'm not using a Troubadour at all... shit. Currently on floor 5. I have a Landschnect (concentrating on Axes), Survivalist (going for 2-hit and the speed up spells), Protector (raising shields for now), Medic (just got the Revive spell, gonna try for Immunize now), and Alchemist (have a few Fire spells, and just started working on getting some Poison levels up). Good plan for now, or did I fuck up?

dont think you fucked up, that was my party (my Landswhatsit focused on axes too, it aint a trap, dont listen to what Kev said) The party served me good up until the postgame, then I just tweaked my party a little, viola

How do you get to Revive and Immunize? I've got Heal at 4 and I have Cure 2, but it's useless. 2 regular Cures=8tp and 60 hp. Or 1 Cure II=10tp and 50hp. Bleh. I'm sure it'll come in handy later.
Anyway, any suggestions for Alchemist builds? I'm sort of angry I sunk pts into Fire. Volt seems to outclass it everywhere, especially on the FOE FOE FOE Ragelopes. I just got Poison, but I can't understand quite where to use it when Volt seems to have so much punch.
Also: Suggestions for Protector? I'm mostly jacking Defense and Shield so far. Back Guard is great for those FOE Ragelopes. Just use Cleaver/Back Guard on the front row. Trueshot in the back, have a Medic on Defense if she doesn't need to heal and have the Alchemist spam VOLT. It's mostly dumb luck that someone useful doesn't get fucked with Scream, but. It's worked so far.
As for Axe- I hear it's good to sink about 3-5pts into Axes just because they have a higher natural attack power. Good for bosses and FOE FOE FOE encounters. Is there a skill tree anywhere I can look at?
I finally got high enough to take on some FOE encounters, but that little video above is right on point. It seems like every time I turn a corner into some unexplored corner of the map OH FUCK RAGELOPE FUCK OH GOD. Anyway, good stuff so far. I wish some things weren't so expensive and that it was a little easier to make $$$. Especially with Inn stays getting more expensive.
I really need to start playing this game again...
I really need to start playing this game again...
yeah I sohuld get back into it too.... Im up to B28F... kinda stopped playing
Now that I quit WoW it might be a good idea to dig deep into the final stratum again. I just hope the sequel comes here.
Etrian Odyssey giveth, Etrian Odyssey taketh away. I mapped the WHOLE 3rd floor. Everyone put on 2 levels, I had a ton of shit to sell. Before I wired out, I saw one last room to check. I went in, got a treasure and came out.You can save map data even if you die.
PROTIP: You cannot "Escape" if you have a wall behind you. WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME? 40 minutes of awesomely productive work DOWN THE DRAIN. FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING MANTIS ASS FUCK FACE
Axe Landscknecjkt ftw, glad you seem to enjoying the game GilloD
and ETRIAN ODYSSEY IS BACK ON MY PLAYLIST, and Im sooooo happy about it :-[ Im making some real progress in the 6th Stratum finally, my party can piss all over any FOE no sweat. Im so pleased with my party, had to draft in a bard for tp regeneration level 10 relaxing omg :bow, so yeah... your dudes can last forever if you can regenerate tp! You can can use all your buffs every fight!
So I should hopefully have finshed the game proper soon... yay. Okay Ive maxed out the bard's Relaxing and Bravery... what other skills are worth going for?
Cant wait for the freaking sequel

Should I swap in a Troubador for the Survivalist, then?
I just made it to the 2nd Stratum and I am, as always, astounded at the game's willingness to punish. It's like 40 times harder than floor 5 and it's difficult to make a trip economically sensible once I pay for sleeping and healing. But it does give me more to do with my party and that's nice. I really like this game.
