Title: Holy Shit Mädchen Amick Is Still Insanely Hot (Twin Peaks Is Awesome)

I got that new twin peaks boxset with christmas money and I was watching the Slice of Lynch special. Which is basically Lynch, Mädchen Amick, and Kyle MacLachlan sitting around at a restaurant eating and discussing their favorite memories of the show together. She was still insanely hot 17 years later, quite shocking.

But anyway I watched the pilot for the first time in YEARS. It was amazing and depressed me. It is amazing cause well, its fucking one of the best episodes of any tv show ever. But depressing in that nothing in the past nearly 20 years has come close to the cinematic quality of this. It is shot so well by Lynch with so much cinematic effort put into it like a film.

Even with the 1990 aged look it still looks better and is shot better than any tv show I have ever seen since. I barely remember anything from this show, even with the weaker season 2 and film I am excited to relive this. Everyone should pick up this dvd.

And the moody theme music can't be beat.

yep TP is the bomb diggity, the version I gave MAF has the pilot as well as the 1st series

So I bought the VHS box set of Twin Peaks along with the seperate pilot epsiode back in 1995.  Then season 1 minus the pilot comes out on DVD and I'm first in line to buy it.  After a seemingly incredibly long time Season 2 comes out and yet again I'm right there.  Still no pilot epsiode in sight.  Now....freakin' now...they release that gold box with the pilot episode.  I NEED that episdoe but I'll be damned if I triple dip to get it.

Sorry to go off track but the whole TP DVD thing just rubs me the wrong way.

And yeah, Shelly and Audrey are the two hottest women ever to grace a televsion screen.

To be fair the announced the gold boxset before Season 2 came out.

It doesn't help that people were very unaware just how fucked up Lynch was willing to go with the franchise. The amount of drug use and lesbian sex in the film for one.

He is only one year younger than me and I can't see how he was able to avoid the pop culture onslaught that Lynch had with this franchise in the 90's. Everyone has some version of the crazy talking midget dancing in the red room image in their head. It's iconic.

But thats home schooling for you I guess.

She was kind of annoying despite being hot on the feature of them sitting around at the restaurant. She kept feeling the need to please Lynch and talk about how awesome he is when ever Lynch asked her something.

She is meh looking now though. Really chubby. :(

Sherilyn Fenn also hot on the show. Most of the girls on it were knock-outs though.

Heh, yeah I've seen some more recent pics of her. She's like 55 now, but on the show she did kind of have a geeky cuteness going on.

Sherilyn Fenn and Lara Flynn Boyle were HAWT though.

The problem with Twin Peaks for me was that it made most other TV shows seem pretty lame in comparion.  Sure much of season 2 of TP is nearly unwatchable but when the show was hitting on all cylinders there wasn't anything like it.  To this day whenever I watch a TV drama or whatever I'm always comparing it to Twin Peaks in the back of my mind.  I'll admit things have gotten better with HBO going like fucking gangbusters with their series and I'm now a total Lost convert but there was just something about TP, the style, the film-like quality, the absolutely creepy atmosphere mixed with the bizarrely mundane and whacked out characters.  No series has nailed "creepiness" like TP did.  I really don't know why that is.  Gotta credit Lynch for that I suppose.

I even like the film, or at least the first 40 minutes or so.  Soon as fake Donna shows up I have a hard time looking past that but man, that scene when Laura hangs that picture up in her room and then ends up walking into it....*shiver*  There's not many films that I find actually scary but for some reason that is definitely one of 'em, or at least that moment.

I agree. All the shows that have tried to copy Twin Peaks like Lost all fail in comparison.

And that link lists Batman! The Batman TV series's popularity lasted well into syndication in the 70's and beyond or at least it seemed that way to me. I watched it in syndication as a lad alongside stuff like Gilligan's Island.
