Pretty much it. I never bought a Gigabyte mobo before, but I've heard they're pretty good. What sort of PSU are you picking up?

Oh yeah that, will get it from the local shops, along with the case due to shipping weight and all.

i will get something affordable and good, whatever i can find anyway.

So which card did you go with?

Also, sorry for hijacking this thread a bit but I have a question: how do I "spot" a good motherboard? Is it just to read reviews and see what people have to say about them? I'm gonna upgrade my pc soon - 8800gt (or gts), c2d e8400 omfg :hyper - but I'm absolutely clueless in the motherboard department.

same one from the 1st post (Radeon 2600xt), couldn't afford a better one.

and no need to apologize  :P use this thread as you see fit.

as for motherboards, i dunno really, i didn't upgrade my pc in a long time so i didn't catch up to all the new pc stuff, i guess it depends on how much you have and the spec you are looking for (memory standard, based on what chipset, audio support, ports, storage devices...etc..)

of course reviews don't hurt but most of them are about non working drivers that probably got fixed in a later release or old shitty bios that got fixed as well.

here is the one i am using now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131025

pretty good so far, no errors or anything and everything working so far on XP service pack 2 with the latest drivers and bios, though i don't use wireless lan and it seems the driver for it isn't all good according to the reviews here or something.

anyway, professor prole and smooth groove are much better at this stuff, maybe they can help you.

I want to get a new PC but I'm going to have to wait to build it, what I actually need is an external hard drive so that's next on the list.
