The only other rough spot is that some people might want the movie to go on longer, to document the more notorious years of Hughes life, in Vegas and with the Mormon Mafia.yeah that was my problem with the movie. it ended with like a fucking happy ending. Hughes actual life was tragic at the very least. maybe scorsese figured he couldn't have enough information to make a plot of those years of Hughes' life but he had to at least include a scene or two to show what happened. I'm guessing scorsese cut out that part of his life because he was that desperate for an oscar.
TVC, just admit, that as a gay man you have an unquenchable thirst for period piece movies.
how does a biopic fit an arc?
I'm saying you should at the very least expect a couple scenes pasted on at the end where you see what actually happened to the guy. if it was right after the very last scene in the movie (so no transition) or even a deleted scene on the DVD, it would be fine. but it's surprising to me that scorsese didn't want to show on screen what really happened to Hughes.
...how does a biopic fit an arc?
Uh, are you kidding me?
I think Scorsese was interested in doing the movie because he wanted to show the opulence of Hollywood during that era...I think that's why that early part of the movie has the best bits. Once Hughes retreats from filmmaking and starts focusing mostly on the aeronautical business, the movie starts to lose a bit if steam, IMO.
The movie did pretty heavily imply that he hadn't escaped his neuroses with that little bit of repeating dialogue at the end. And anybody who knows a little bit about history knows what happened to him.
It's sorta like the end of Gladiator - everyone's happy because Rome is going to become a democracy again except, uh, if you know anything about history you know that's not what happened.
This is really gay, but I really do like Leo as an actor. He's pretty talented. Like, I am, uh, debating, uh, watching that uh one other period movie he is in.
:lol
Titanic is really awful. I appreciate the craftsmanship that went into make an accurate model and representation of the ship, but the writing and acting (save for DiCaprio) is mediocre across the board. The film drags and drags and is such a black spot on Cameron's resume that I really am not anticipating anything he's doing now that he's "back".
Kate Winslet is hot, tho.Yeah, she sure is hot.
Sharon Stone did some car commercials in Spain that I saw on vacation there when I was like 12 years old. That's the only time I've ever found her attractive, weirdly enough.
What PD would say:
BUT TEH AVIATOR ISN"T ON THE IMDB TOP 200 AND THE DEPARTED IS NUMBA 41 NICCA, HAHAHAHAHAHA 6.S out of B-
