MMZX started out okay, but now that I have ZX and the intro is pretty much over with (finally...),the game is really starting to get good. The map is shit but it doesn't ruin the game. I just look at the map, see the place next to where I need to go, and just continue searching, which admittedly, is pretty fun. I'm doing the mission in E-1 and I'm searching for the Biometal. It's getting good but the levels have a significant lack of actual platforming. So far MMZX seems more run and gun than the MM I'm used to. I want platforming! It took awhile to adjust because this past summer I was playing MMX 1-5 with an analog stick. I've gotten use to it I think.
Phoenix Wright is pretty damn fun. I am on case 3, The Turnabout Samurai, and I'm loving it. I laugh out loud a lot when I play PW, more so than with many other games. It's extremely charming. Can't suggest it enough (if you can find a copy :().
As for the ds lite itself, I am in love with the screen. It's so sexy and bright. What's wierd is that my DSL didn't come with a thumb strap. :( My original DS came with one so wtf. Maybe it fell out when I opened it?
At first it took time to adjust to the clicky buttons, I much prefer the mashy buttons of the original DS design. Another complaint is that the edges at the bottom of the DS Lite make some REALLY uncomfortable play because the plastic rubs into my hands and it's...gar!
Overall, I am loving my ds lite! All I need now is Contact...I was going to get that at the TRU sale, and get Tales of Abyss for free but...I didn't have enough money. I mean, I have the money, but 50 dollars is going towards a Wii pre order and the rest of my check is going towards more important things..like gas and shit.

You need Clubhouse Games, mofo!
Oh and you should totally get a subscription to Gamefly. They rent games for all the systems, INCLUDING the DS... after being a member with them for three months, you get 10% off all used game purchases and a $5 off coupon every three months. My DS collection has grown quite a bit - thanks to GF!
-
What exactly is that? Everyone is raving about it.

What is what? Clubhouse Games, or Gamefly?

I'm at work and can't look up Gamefly, can you rent games online or do you have to go through the store?

DS Lite is awesome

You can rent games online. I don't know what you mean by "go through the store"

Like Blockbuster...do you have to go to the store to rent the games, as opposed to netflix where you can just rent them online and get them in the mail.
-
Game Boy Micro is for girls.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think there are any "GameFly" stores. It's like Netflix, except you have the option to purchase most of their games.

I wasn't sure if there were any stores not, I can't look at the website at the moment.

Gameboy Micro is too small for people with hands that are of MAN size rite lol
-
Gameboy Micro isn't that comfortable for me. I don't have big man hands but I have really long fingers. They are nice for playing guitar and piano, but make other things difficult. I was always more comfortable with the big xbox controllers, and I'm a little wary about the ds lite. I havn't tried playing one yet though.
-
Good to hear it, Himu. I just beat Case 4 in Phoenix Wright and it is by far the best. A pretty fun game and a nice change of pace.
I've never held a Gameboy Micro, but it looks way too frackin small.
-
Micro is nice if you want to play crap on the bus or in public and want to hide the shame of preferring to play videogames instead of talk to people when you leave your house.
I however dont really play my portables outside my house, I mean whats the point of going to the park and playing videogames, or anywhere else for that matter. I never quite figured out what situations portables are for aside from say airport layovers. Thankfully there are a lot of GOOD games on portables and that can allow me to overlook the weird purpose of portables in general.
-
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
-
WELL THEN I GUESS THAT MAKES ME GAY HUH
We knew that looooong before the micro
-
Fuck the map in ZX is ANNOYING. >:(
Anyways, as much as I like ZX, this set up does NOT suit Megaman AT ALL. Goddamit, I need action asap. This whole "find your next destination using crappy deductive reasoning!" bs is gay!
The game is pretty hard though. The levels aren't that interesting and still remain run and gun rather than action platforming! >:(
-
If by hard you mean, I can beat the bosses with one hand tied behind my back and while talking shit to willco about how much he sucks at megaman games then, yes.
-
I'm much worse than Willco. I suck. Really hard.
-
Eh. It's not hard, but it's moderate.
-
I have to say that PW is absolutely amazing. I am on case 4 and I'm enjoying myself!
If this game was more open-ended in how you confront puzzles it would EASILY be on par with classic point and click adventure games, for me atleast. It has the humor, it has the gameplay, all it needs is a less linear approach to cracking these cases.
The puzzles are pretty much trial and error but that's fine.
As for MMZX, I'm enjoying it a lot more as I continue playing. I did a quest for a girl and landed me some ice boots! My favorite Biometal has got to be HX. HX rocks!
-
DS Lite is awesome
I'm too busy with my Gameboy Micro to care.
:lol :lol :lol
Game Boy Micro? Haha
You need to upgrade, asap
-
HOLY FUCK at Area F!
THAT'S THE MEGAMAN I KNOW! Action platforming FTW!
-
Dude...did you play the Zero series?
-
Yes I have Z2
However, ZX is less action platforming than X or Z
-
I agree there, its just having played all four of the Zero games I didnt have the same level of excitement you just had lol.
If anything ZX, while awesome, wasn't as awesome as the straight up zero games were to me. I think the whole 'town' area just threw the flow off, id rather be in the action 95% of the time.
-
I completely agree. That's my biggest problem with ZX. Also, the action is more run and gun than action platforming, so this sudden emphasis on platforming is making the levels awesome and it's a nice surprise.
The town concept ain't bad, and neither is the Metroid type of gameplay, but it can definitely be improved on in the sequels. Just make it more action oriented dammit!
One of the best things about MM is that you just pick a level and there you go, you're kicking ass. ZX lacks this. :(
-
I think ZX focused more on distance in general. HX model has an extreme focus on melee, but the levels in general lend themselves to distance fighting WAY more than Z1-4 did I think. ZX's town thing borrows from Metroid/Vania/MM Legends and thats fine, but at this point changing the way the game is played does little to change review scores since everyone, when seeing the games name, instantly screams "MORE OF THE SAME" while people who dont mind more of the same are forced to deal with 'new ideas' which may or may not work to the games benefit.
-
One thing that REALLY pisses me off is when you have a game over during a mission you have to retry the mission or load from the last save point. This wouldn't be a problem if most save points were near the mission start points. The backtracking is terrible.
-
Yup, lots of backtracking. I love the game, but not as much as the previous entries. I did buy a DS Lite for Mega Man tho, and I know there will be future entries :)
