Lighting really sucked so I was playing with filters and polarizers, just figuring out how to do cool effects. For this one, while fucking around, I set up the white balance as I would if I were shooting around heavy incandescent light, or as if off a bright, backlit screen of some sort. This means, in short, that the camera is setting itself up for a shot where there will be a lot of light, and when there's not a lot of light, or unusual lighting conditions, you get spiffy effects like this.

It's like almost black and white.
I got more noise than I wanted there, but I think that's a side effect of incandescent-optimized shooting. I'm fiddlin with the raw right now, tho. I can get it a bit cleaner I think.
Well, I think it's pretty.

was this with the digital rebel or the point-and-shoot? looks really pretty, though.

That was with the Digital Rebel. The Dokken pic was with the point and shoot, lol
Here is roughly the same pic with pretty standard P settings for comparison.

There's also a little noise there. I'm wondering if it just wasn't the dirt at the bottom of the pond doing things, though, because the rest of the image looks fine. That pond was really clear.

Very nice. Where did you take it?

It's from this nice little pond in Redmond that is only there during the rainy season.

That would make a good wallpaper if it were bigger.
