Where's the best place to look? Ebay? Unless I can get one from the late 30s or one of the non-fucked 40s models, I want the Leica IIIf from the early 50s.

Ahoy, me hearties! That's a mighty fine camera...fer a landlubber.
But I'm going to spend $20,000 on a Meiji-era Japanese sea captain's SEA CHEST! I'm Captain of the H.M.S. Japafag!

If you purchased it, why not take pictures of it with a 10,000 dollar Leica IIId, of which only 427 were made?

Actually, I've changed my mind. For $20,000, I can get 2 hours with O.C.'s finest Asian escort every week for a year. I'll still need that camera, of course.
-
Well, with the Leica IIId, you can use the innovative (circa 1940) self-timer in order to snap shots in the midst of flagrante delicto.
-
Jesus, thats a sexy camera. I think I've seen it a few times on Flickr.

This one looks like a revision but :-*
-
That's either one of the OG Leica IIIs or one of the first real revisions. Can't really tell without seeing close-ups of the speed dial. The revision has a faster motor and it weighs significantly less, too, but I can't tell that from pictures.

like this?

my parents have probably spend thousands of dollars on disposable cameras throughout the years - then they take a bunch of pics and never get the film developed. i keep telling them wtf, buy a digital camera
-
Getting Prints is so easy in this digital age. You can use Flickr to crop, have pics printed and sent to you over the mail or you can upload to your local Walgreens and pick up the prints within an hour (I've done it with Walgreens and I wasn't to satisified with the "teen in labcoats" that were servicing my prints). It should be automated but still.

Thats sexy.
If you bought that I'd have to join on as your first mate.
-
TVC should buy that treasure chest to hold that Leica III
-
That treasure chest costs more than all my dental work, including ortho at its priciest, will cost this year.
I'll probably spend under 1000, possibly even less than 500, on a fine Leica camera. At one period, Leica was the greatest name for SLRs. Now, they are a shitty imprint bought out by shitty shitty Panasonic, forever doomed to make shitty digital cameras. They don't even make Leica film cameras anymore :( The terrible, terrible Japanese buying out one of the finest camera labels ever and dooming it to producing cheap, Jappy shit.
