This part used to bother me as a kid.  Like, I didn't cry - it just really bothered me.  I'd say creeped me out, more than anything.

Hellboy is the closet any film in recent memory that I can think of that is dark fantasy, somewhat kid friendly in an 80s kind of way.  Nobody makes films like these anymore.
