Title: best game of last gen: metroid prime

Metroid Prime ended up being one of the best games, if not the best game of the last generation

and no it doesn't matter whether or not you like Metroid Prime, by the way

Well Metroid Prime was a job well done and really is cited by me as one of the more memorable moments of last gen - the music was outstanding.

MEtroid Prime and OOT both were some of the best transitions from 2D to 3D where many others have failed.

Thanks for noticing. It's unbelievable at some of the groupthink there.

I learned many years ago that you don't engage in debate with Nintendo fans .. you just say your piece and move on.

I'm not even saying it's a BAD game (although, deep down I think it may be), I'm just saying it's not even the BEST GAME available on the gamecube. There are 3 games that are CLEARLY better and 2 more that are about equal.

it's my favorite game.  easily the most atmospheric game and I loved how different the controls were although they had a very long learning curve and one boss battle had a totally broken jump in difficulty where if you replayed in Hard, he was harder than the next 3 bosses in the game.  I loved how the game simply guided you through the environments and was essentially "story-free".  really, no game came close to it in atmosphere for me.  oddly, it was what really got me into videogames (I only bought it because it had a higher review score than halo lol).

keep in mind that I do hate nintendo though.  I think they promise too much, and deliver very little.  This is their only game that I really like.  maybe also SMG but that's just retardedly fruity and fun.

Metriod Prime was pretty cool, not the game of of last gen though

MEtroid Prime is the best Nintendo game of last gen if you have been hanging on the edge of your seat for a new MEtroid game since the SNES and got blue balls from the N64 teaser that never came to be....

Well, you're right about one thing at least (the music)... rest of the game was a total chore to play. The combination of excessive backtracking, strange controls (and this was before I played Halo/more traditional dual analog FPS), a cramped viewport, and heavy nostalgia for the 2D games really got to me. Luckily, Fusion was pretty good and Zero Mission was great.
