Have had nothing but positive experiences.  Factory refurbished TVs usually undergo stricter tests than the new crap they pump out.  I had one friend that bought a lemon, but he knew within the first day and you're usually covered 30 to 90 days by manufacturer.

I don't see anything wrong with them for other people. I personally wouldn't get one, but that's because I'm just weird like that.

Why?  It's a TV, not a cock ring!

in all seriousness, I've gotten some refurbed monitors in the past and they worked fine. I'd imagine TVs are the same way.

I am still debating...do I really NEED a 1080p projector??

If you decide against it, I am already trying to get terene on GAF to senselessly upgrade his Grand Wega to something bigger so I can buy his current TV on the cheap.  I am already planting the seeds for cheap future sex televisions.

Second-gen units (just out) are $2600, which is still a bit rich for my blood. I'd imagine that the fall 08 units are going to be about $1600-2000, hopefully with a phatty rebate built in. At that point, I will bite.

Depending on finances, I might be looking for a new set towards the end of this year.  At this point, it'd be a superfluous purchase.  But 1080p is soooooooo tempting, and if I can get something giant for like 1500 or less, it'll be hard to resist.  My TV is 50 inches but it could be BIGGGGGGGEEEEEEERRRRR

I think we're going to get a new TV next month and move our old HDTV into the bedroom. I'd like to get a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD for the living room, but we'll see.

more than half the time refurbs are just open-box items sent back to the manufacturer and have never been used.

I bought mine from a well-reputed online reseller.  It's a great way to get an older tv at a great price.  My plasma has been discontinued by Pioneer once they launched their Kuro line, so it was the best (and one of the only) ways to get it.  I couldn't be happier about my purchase.
