wait, you've never seen dead ringers?

I vote that.  See if you can find Ron Rosenbaum's "The Secret Parts of Fortune" collection of essays which includes the original article which is the basis for the film.

FARGO IS AWESOME

That and No Country are tied for my Coen Brothers appreciation.

Either Dead Ringers or Trainspotting, wait on the really fun Shoot Em' Up until you get a proper chance to Hi-Def it.
Both of them rock pretty hard, you can't make a bad decision tonight.

It's good, just not spectacular.

I can name at least five or six comedies better than Lebowski. Hell, much more than that, but yeah.

Lebowski is some good stuff, just not as hilarious as other films I have seen.

Dead Ringers is easily the best on that list.

Watch Trainspotting.  i would really like to hear someone's take on it that missed the gushing hype when it was released.

I didn't see it until after the hype had passed, and I liked it.  I thought it was a pretty great, if light, contemporary movie.  There's a lot to be said about having a nice style.

I vote that.  See if you can find Ron Rosenbaum's "The Secret Parts of Fortune" collection of essays which includes the original article which is the basis for the film.

There's also the book called (I think) Twins from the 70s/early 80s or so.  No idea if it is related to that article, but the book is clearly a primary source for the movie.

Shoot 'em up has people being stabbed to death by carrots and a baby being delivered during a gunfight. I don't know if that helps or not.

the gestation of the tale is article, novel (no direct relation, but the research for the novel is predominately the primary research of ron rosenbaum and his coauthor), movie.  So if you want to know the "real story" hunt down secret parts of fortune.  It's an excellent read in and of itself.  Rosenbaum is one of my favorite modern journalists, but he's gotten a bit full of himself in recent years, sadly.  as evidenced.

I think he has a right to be pissed there, but he clearly does not know Cronenberg that well if he thinks he is a "Hollywood type."  Cronenberg has made a grand total of 1 movie for Hollywood, and even that movie (A History of Violence) was filmed mainly with Canadian funding.

And if this pissed Rosenbaum off so much, why didn't he contact Cronenberg about it when it was relevant?  That's what he's REALLY pissed off about, that Cronenberg spoke his mind, when he himself took it like a bitch.

sadly this is just the way he goes now

in a rebuttal to The Israel Lobby book he starts his first two paragraphs can be summed up with "I'm not going to call the authors anti-semetic, but it's clear they hate jews."

Dead Ringers, fer chrissakes.  Jeremy Irons' performance as the twins is downright eerie.
