Just saw these two movies. The latter was the inspiration for my tag.
Infernal Affairs: The movie is about an undercover cop working for a gang and an undercover gangster becoming a model police officer in order to give their respective organizations a leg up. The departed was based on this but for some reason it tried to mash the plot into boston and that failed but you don't have to worry about the story being ruined for you when you watch this. Nearly every scene is handled better in this. For example, the gang-mole/police-mole drug exchange scene actually was exciting. Felt flaccid as hell in the departed. If you've never seen the departed before though, definitely check this out. One of the better crime movies that I've seen. Very unique premise and does it well too.
Hustle & Flow: literally prostitute yourself if you have to in order to see this. WOW. OMG. It is the best music movie I have ever seen. The movie is about this pimp that tries to get into rap and the obstacles that he encounters. It has some of the best rap I've ever seen in a movie too (pretty sure it's all original too). Like I said, sell your butt cherry for this movie. I can't tell you more about it without spoiling it.

watch the sequels to IA as well
they're worth your time
-
I'll look for the sequels. So the departed only
showed ripped off what happened in the first movie?
-
Infernal Affairs 2 is even better then the first movie, which is also pretty dang awesome. The third movie you can skip though, its not anything special.
IA2 has one of the biggest "Holy Shit" moments in cinema history. Its dang great.

Small bits of The Departed were snuck in from Infernal Affairs 2, they wisely decided not to take any material from the third film.
-
Is IA3 like godfather 3 bad or what?
-
How is IA2 attached to the first movie? I am assuming that the plot of The Departed is basically identical to IA.
-
ia2 is a prequel
ia3 is a sequel to the first one
and i think it wraps the series up quite well
i LOVE the IA series.
-
i heard departed covers the entire IA series ???
-
no it doesn't
departed does part one, small bits of part two, but none of 3 (that i can recall. hell if i'm watching the departed again).
-

You're right, rap sucks lol

you have a problem with the movie's music? by best music, I mean the music creation process. very original for a movie to have all of that in it.
