Post by: Junpei the Tracer! on January 14, 2008, 09:05:23 PM
Once when I was younger,I thought it'd be cool to see if I could swallow a grape.I couldn't and I almost died next to the washing machine.

How about you?

I don't know about near-death, but I was at one of those wave pool parks when I was 9 or 10 and got swept under by a particularly strong current. Almost each time I tried to raise my head above water to breathe, another current would crash down on me. Luckily, I was a great swimmer and regularly practiced holding my breath under water, so I didn't panic; I waited for the waves to settle, swam back to the shallower areas to recuperate, then returned to the danger zone for some fun. :D

A summer ago I almost got hit by a car while crossing the street because I wasn't looking. I probably wouldn't have died, but I most certainly would have been hurting!  :lol

Oh, my mom told me I had jaundice as a baby. I don't think that's life-threatening, though, not in the developed world, anyway.

1. Had a really horrible infection my first week after birth, was hooked up to a bunch of machines and couldn't go home until like a month or so after I was born.

2. Fell and almost drowned in my great aunt and uncle's lake.  My dad had to save me and perform CPR.

3. Ditto above, only this time it was a couple years later and in a duck pond.

4. I had Osteochondroma a couple years ago, which is a tumor apart of a joint.  That kinda sucked.

When I was a kid a tack from the bulletin board fell into my mouth.  I could feel it teetering on the back of my tongue as I yelled up to my parents.  Luckily I never swallowed it.   8)

Watch Salo, and tell me with a straight face that you don't get aroused during the Circle of Shit portion of the movie.

Oh, I once fell from a 11-12 foot ledge. I guess that counts as near-death, since if I had fallen on my head that probably would've been the end of me.  :o

When I was 7 I had a tumor the size of a golfball on the inside of my mouth. I almost died before they figured out what it was and how to deal with it. And to top it off, to operate on it they had to remove 3 teeth near the tumor because it was so difficult to get to. The jackass who removed my teeth (2 baby, 1 permanent. It actually saved me from having to get braces) damaged nerves in my tongue putting me in unbelievable pain for a while. I was medicated for over a year after I was released from the hospital.

Fun times.

I also almost died in Canada. At Four Wheels (?) or something like that; it was this huge ass hotel, I dunno what area of Canada it was in. But I went down the giant slide on a bet, and I didn't know how to swim. Luckily the lifeguard saved me

Went down a slide at a water park and panicked when I fell into the pool even though I had on a life jacket.

I almost died while my mom was in labor. It's this great story that ends with my grandmother throwing the new intern doctor person out of the room and making someone call in a "real doctor", who arrives and gives her a death glare, then looks at a bunch of monitors and performs an emergency c-section on my mom to get me out. They thought I would die, but I didn't. Then they thought something would be wrong with my heart, but my heart was and is fine.

I had a seizure once, on the first day of 5th grade. It wasn't near-death of course, and it never happened again, but it really freaked out my mother.

I was stricken with severe asthma as a child.  One of my earliest memories is of being in the back of my parents' car as they rushed me to the hospital during an attack when I was around 3-4 years old.  I can still remember exactly how it feels to not be able to breathe.  Not fun.
