Shamelessly copied thread title structure from TVC.
You all know that I am a huge Bob Dylan cigarillo. I've seen him live a few times, I own every single one of his albums (that I know of anyway), and I hardly deviate from his material whenever I'm driving with my iPod. To me, he's the best all around artist of not only the 60s, but in modern music in general. In terms of songwriting, there are times when Tom Waits eclipses him, but I think Dylan is absolutely the most consistent of the awesome songwriters of that era, and still is to this day.
But enough of that. We're here to talk about Dylan's greatest album of the 60s, possibly of his whole career. Blonde on Blonde is prooobably my favorite album ever as well. There is not ONE song I don't like. That's very rare for me. The song I like LEAST is the opening Rainy Day Women, or by the title that every frat asshole titles it, "Everybody Must Get Stoned."
Then comes Pledging My Time, which to me is the true start of the album. An awesome blues song with great harmonica. PD, you like the blues, you'd probably like this song! Give it a shot.

Pledging My Time
Then comes I think my favorite song on the album, Visions of Johanna. Seriously, just listen, it's 7 minutes of incredible arrangement and songwriting. :bow

Not enough can be said for how diverse the album is without going off in completely different tangents from the rock genre. You can make cases for Pet Sounds and Sgt. Peppers being the best albums of the 60s, but certainly Blonde on Blonde is truly the best pure rock album of the decade. Honestly, Visions of Johanna, One of Us Must Know, I Want You, Memphis Blues Again (one of Dylan's best set of lyrics EVER), Just Like a Woman, 4th Time Around (a better song than Norwegian Wood), and the muthafuckin' Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands...:bow :bow :bow :bow
I want this thread to rock. Much like Dylan. And it's not just restricted to Blonde on Blonde! I know Malek is a lover of Highway 61 Revisited, and for good reason! Like a Rolling Stone, even though not on Blonde and Blonde and despite being the most popular song he's written, is still to this day my favorite song ever.
Talk dammit.

4th Time Around: the time Dylan stole from Lennon instead of the other way around.
I love Everybody Must Ge...Rainy Day Woman #12 and 25.
Just Like a Woman is my favorite song on the album. Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands is ten minutes to long. :P

It's made up by the incredible harmonica solo he has at the end though. So beautiful.
And this is for you, honey bunches!

Just Like a Woman
-
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev'rybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.
Queen Mary, she's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That Baby can't be blessed
Till she sees finally that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.
It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is this pain in here
I can't stay in here
Ain't it clear that--
I just can't fit
Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit
When we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world.
Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
You make love just like a woman, yes, you do
Then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl.

Nice post...but I still prefer Blood on the Tracks! I hate the mix on Blonde on Blonde, all tin can drums and thin, scratchy guitars. Blood on the Tracks has a much more natural feel & flow to it, plus omg the songs. Almost everything on it is a classic, and Tangled Up in Blue alone towers over almost everything else from the entire decade.

Visions of Johanna is absolutely my favorite Dylan track, but I think I would slip both Highway 61 Revisited and Bringing It All Back Home ahead of Blonde on Blonde, if only because they're a bit tighter as albums, benefiting from shorter lengths.
