i say buy omega 5 just so we see more of this shit on XBLA.  they should port this over to the PS3 so they can experience the masterpiece for themselves.

so are the achievements actually that tough? Completing the game on one credit seems pretty doable, I just need more practice. I can get up to the stage 2 boss on one credit at this point. Its annoying how the game trashes your score if you continue... ie. it wont be recorded as a highe score... good incentive to 1 credit the sucker I guess

Im using Ruby... whats the best weapon to use? im using tyoe C becuase it looks the cooleset... athough i hear type B is the way to go....

Post by: hyp on January 15, 2008, 06:58:26 PM
naw man, it's all about Type A.  does the most damage, has a nice spread, and it's pretty quick.

achievements are easy.  of course it takes practice, but 1-CCing the game is a breeze once you memorize enemy patterns and whatnot.  final boss is a breeze too.

:bow tempest and his bullet reflecting skillz

i play a ton of shmups but it's easy to get into...  there's no reward without practice though.  just don't go into this game thinking you're gonna one-credit it on the first try.  think 20th or 30th and you'll be fine.

try using tempest right off the bat.  his bullet reflection skillz will get you out of sticky situations.

I sent prole a message stating that this game would pull down his pants and fellate him in a scene reminiscent  of Videodrome, and I see he agrees.

Even this late in the game, there are still fanboys that have convinced themselves that MGS4 is an exclusive.  I look forward to owning MGS4: Sustenance for the 360, with more crap not including with the original.  That said, I already got MGS4 pre-ordered for PS3.

Joke post? Sustenance? Come on now. MGS4 was built from the ground up on Cell, is one of PS3s flagship exclusive titles, and has been touted by Sony as such at every press conference. The only reason MGS2 ever came out on the Xbox 1 is because Konami had a deal with MS from the PC version of the MGS and MS wanted the game on the Xbox. Kojima has stated multiple times, regardless of what some PR jackass says, that he doesn't like doing multiconsole and wants to keep MGS on Sony platforms as long as he can.

Konami likes money.  They don't care about console manufacturers.  Only fanboys do.  Metal Gear Solid has only remained somewhat-exclusive to Sony consoles because they've led the pack each generation.  Doesn't look like the case this time around.  Nice try, though!

Just because a game comes out on PS3 doesn't mean it bombs furiously. It's not going to sell like 10 copies for fuck's sake. I give up, I know this board is MS biased, so I'm fighting a losing battle.

that's enough Scenester.

i am getting it on the ps3 day 1, if they ever release it on the 360, doubt i would get it unless they make some huge gameplay upgrades (like MGS3S camera) or graphics upgrade.

you could separate dmc4's main game and bloody palace into two separate games, and they'd probably be the two best games this year. with bloody palace coming out slightly ahead i think

Title: Re: GOTY 2008
Post by: MCD on February 19, 2008, 04:01:37 AM
the moment i played with dante is the moment i said: now this is my next gen DMC.

buster appears to be capcom's answer to god of war's "press the button you see on the enemy to hack him apart for easy win".

NG2 doesn't seem to be any better, with the new obliteration thing "press Y to hack wounded enemies".
Title: Re: GOTY 2008
Post by: drohne on February 19, 2008, 04:07:50 AM
buster probably was inspired by gow's throws -- with those seed pod guys nero even does the kratos 'rip dudes in half' thing -- but it's much better balanced, in that you're vulnerable while you're doing it (not to mention that abusing it will kill your style rank). i dunno...grim grip just makes your combos perfectly fluid without any of those little gaps you get with dante, and the buster moves are hilarious. if you use it on the gold knights while dt'd you get zangief's final atomic buster. which is just awesome. and revving is really satisfying as well, particularly once you've got max act. dante obviously has tons of options, and gilgamesh can absolutely wreck bosses, but i find him hard to go back to. nero's just more fun. i'll be bummed if he isn't in dmc5 -- or at least his arm

this is a very important matter here, i was pleased when the puppet-like monsters stopped me from doing one.

while watching TGS07 video of NG2, Ryu continued to obliterate the enemy even though he was attacked while doing it and i was not happy to see this.

i prefer transporting to the enemies (trickster) which i think is better IMO, since grabbing some enemies like the knights usually ends up with you in the air near him instead of being on the ground, you know?

and yes, the buster moves are indeed hilarious.
