fuck you MS, will I even be able to download undertow?
-
I got an error code when I first tried to d/l Undertow, but I immediately tried again and it went fine.
-
jesus christ, xbox live has really gone to shit.

Turning Point sucks. Looks terrible, plays terrible. Neat idea for an alternate WWII scenario, but the game sucks.
Also, worst smoke effects ever. The smoke is pixelated.
As much of a WWII fan as I am, I learned my lesson with Hour of Victory. Never again.

Please tell me you didn't buy that.
-
Sadly I did. I bought it used for $15 thinking "Hey, maybe the demo just sucked, it has to be worth $15 for a playthrough."
No, no it wasn't. It wouldn't have been worth playing through if they paid me $15. I shut it off after about 30 minutes and took it back to Gamestop.
I have given up on owning a WWII game collection.
-
Well it was dev'd by Spark Unlimited, so it will be of some use to me at least

demo was pretty good. it's obvious the tutorial area was way toned down. final game will probably be solid.
-
THIS GAME IS FUCKING SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITS FREEDOM FIGHTERS IN FIRST PERSON
IT EVEN STARTS OUT THE SAME WAY (for the most part)
HOLY FUCKING SHIT I MUST PLAY THIS
LOVED THE DEMO (graphics aside)
Oooh ok, I will try it now.
-
i like the scenario but this game just plays bad. holy shit.
-
The graphics were kinda crappy, but I liked the concept. I'll probably check it out for $30.
-
15 new or bust

Yup, the opening is amazing, but once you start the actual shooting mechanics.
oh boy........

Just picked up a used copy at BBV for $9.99. So far I'm enjoying it, but it aside from a few context-sensitive actions, it feels like a Allied Assault-era WWII shooter. I much prefer this scenario to Resistance's "what if aliens fought in WWII?" premise. And run-of-the-mill WWII storylines have been done to death. So if you're looking for something a little different in the genre this might be worth checking out, if you don't mind looking past the glaring technical limitations (though, nothing game-stopping so far).
-
I bought this for the PC when I found it for $7.50 on Clearance at Target. Still haven't played it beyond the demo.
-
I'm going to edit every post I made in this thread

:lol

Do you own MORTYR?
no, but i looked it up on wikipedia and now i want it

Never forget, this game was fucking sweet and it was freedom fighters in the first person.
How accurate is this statement? I loved Freedom Fighters

Accurate in the sense that it's the same story with nazis instead of russians. Not much else.

I got this game for cheap, but it is the first 360 FPS to defeat me. The controls are utterly wretched and the shooting mechanics are incompetent. Never before have I played a game that disrespects the gamer so much. I got to the point where you have to get on the zeppelin and I gave up.
Demi, I salute your gamerscore for putting up with this
-
i gave up way before that, you are much more tolerant than i am
that game was poo all over
-
Are you referring to part at the where it would HARD LOCK? Oh yeah, I was about to throw something there. But I eventually just made a break for it and got on and beat the level. This was on the hardest difficulty so I'm all FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Then I found out you can just replay the last level on any difficulty and you'd get the difficulty achievement. : (
-
It's the part where you take the elevator up to the bridge, and the disembodied voice is like "Go get on the zeppelin!" and you have two blimps shooting at you from the right, a rocket launcher guy in the front, and fools from the left sniping at you. I killed everyone and then ran up the bridge, and then 4 guys miraculously spawned right behind me and killed me. That's the first time I've thrown a controller in about 10 years.
My favorite parts of the game are:
-- No dynamic lighting on enemy gunfire so you can't see where people are shooting you from
-- Moving backwards is like 30% forward speed
-- You can't tell if you're damaging enemies or not
-- Flashlights only work on some weapons
-- Default Unreal Engine font
-- Totally fucked aiming
I honestly have no idea why I'm playing this. Seriously, it's like a case study for terrible, lazy game design.

Good news is that their next game is coming out soon!
-
sounds great, will rent
-
this game was worse than Hour of Victory.
