Title: I walked around Seattle and took pics (56k is genetic underclass)
Post by: TVC15 on January 24, 2008, 11:14:25 PM
Okay, so I had an appointment in Seattle today and I got there really early.  It was really nice out, which is odd for this time of year, so I decided to do some walking around and photographing things.  Unfortunately, I did not know it would be so nice when I left my apartment this morning, so I did not have an SLR with me.  I think I did pretty well for myself, though, although you never realize how much you love your telephoto lenses until you cannot use them :(

This is where I started.  Note that I am on the waterfront, because I was, uh, looking for what Himumu told me to look for.

Like all amateur photographers, I am a sucker for landscape shots.  You usually can't see the mountains at this time of year because it is usually cloudy and grey all the time.  This is probably the first time I've seen them since August or September.

Last one, I swear.  That phallic building in the background is the Himuro Institute for Male Genital Study (No Homo).

This is the Old Spaghetti Factory where a former ZD employee that shall remain unnamed raped me before a Metric concert.  I have fond memories of that building and the many rapings I have had inside.

I call this the NAMBLA Fountain.  I couldn't even bother to read the title plaque because I didn't want my joke ruined.  That girl on the left, well, the Chimexican city workers that were ogling jogging women are like 10 feet off camera in that direction.

There was this big psychedelic glass wall piece of art in this sculpture garden.  I couldn't get a picture of the full thing because too many people were blocking.  That is like, part of Belltown behind it, which is a magical place where you can spend like hundreds of thousands of dollars on condos that don't appreciate value but *do* double as high end hobo toilets.

See alse: The Old Rapeghetti Factory

I thought this was really dumb, but in a noteworthy way.  The plaque:

What a fucking psychopath.

This was a cool little coffee shop/lounge in the middle of the sculpture garden.  They had these cool swingy chairs inside that looked like some sort of hanging harness from an S&M sex dungeon.

This appears to be some sort of little theatre type of thing.  No idea if people perform here or what, but that's the first thing that comes to mind when you see the layout.  That sign down there says Don't Fucking Touch the Art.

I couldn't find the plaque for this one, but I did find an employee type of person.  Those are made of old boat hulls or some junk, and the rust is authentic.  You can walk around between the structures, and the curve light pretty cool, and give this disorienting effect.  I took like a dozen more photos there.  Those things are fuck cool.

And of course, all of this is brought to you by:

So nice.  What the fuck does Sony do for its fans?

EWWWWWWW

I ended up clocking up 160+ photos today, so I have tons more but I was trying to keep this short.

What type of camera are you using?

What type of camera are you using?

This was with my Sony Cybershot DSCW200.  12.1 megapixel, but only 3x zoom.  It's about the size of a deck of cards.  I like it a lot.  It's a good size to keep on you at all times, and the quality isn't that bad.

There was some formating issues in the OP.  I have fixed them so you can see the NAMBLA statue in all its glory.

Did you take any pictures of Seattle's 24-hour coffee shops?  Oh wait, they don't exist

Seattle = fail

This photo quality is fantastic,I though only SLR cameras could produce this kind of material.

Here is a picture of the same resolution (1000x750) but without the photo resized:

I must admit that taking the bus into Seattle at midnight gave me this cool "descending into the mouth of hell" feeling.  You can't get that from Portland.  Plus the hot Asian chicks sitting next to me added to the Blade Runner atmosphere.

On the way up from the waterfront, I hit up Pike Place because of the pretty cool comic/nerdlinger shop in there.  And also to take a picture of this:

Reminds me of the night I conceived Synbios.

I forget what part of Greenlake you live in.  Terrene also lives in that area.  I know not addresses but he is like a 3 minute drive from Scarecrow.

That picture of the mountain makes me miss home :( Every time I see Rainier I miss home.

Edit: I've totally touched that Pig before at some point in my life.

great pics. i've always wanted to go to seattle but i've never been.

the picture behind the glass wall is my favourite. as i was scrolling down my first thought was that you photoshopped it! really neat.

someone should make a photo thread here... i don't think we have one (that gets posted in regularly, anyway). we have some talented photographers here!
