Best movie I've seen a looooooong time. Daniel Day-Lewis is a sure winner. Feel bad for everyone else in the catagory.
-
It should win the Oscar for Best Picture, too.
-
Indeed it should, based on all I've seen this year. Although...I still haven't seen No Country for Old Men.
But damn damn damn, everyone see this movie now.
-
It's better than No Country. Easily.
-
I used to think this was the slogan for Rambo
then I remembered it was from Saw II.
And now I'm just confused.

I'll need to make up my mind for myself, but I reeeeaally can't see any movie from the past year topping a movie I think ranks up as one of the best in cinematic history. This of course might just be my current reactionary thought process, but fuck I don't know. I really do enjoy the Coen brothers–O Brother! Where Art Though? is still a personal favorite of mine.
-
it was ok
didn't really grab me
but it is the first pt anderson film i managed to watch the whole way through

I mean, I really enjoyed No Country and I remember I came back here and was like MOVIE OF THE YEAR, but the last third of the movie really is fairly mediocre and a major tone shift. Up until then, though, it's a nail-bitingly intense and suspenseful chase.
There Will Be Blood, on the other hand, is just a fucking incredible character-driven film that is masterful from beginning to end - pretty much all due to DDL. The score is also fucking great. Jonny Greenwood :bow And yeah, I guess PTA does deserve some credit too. :lol
And I just read this in The Onion's review:
"It's what Scorsese's Gangs Of New York should have been." :o
-
Gangs of New York is only worth a watch BECAUSE of DDL.
-
Yeah, that movie really is :-X
-
Scorcese is overrated. Although the Aviator is :bow
-
Writer/director Miles Trahan called it. 9.5 out of 10. Best movie in the last five years.
:bow BK Beast :bow

It wasn't my MOTY, but Daniel Day Lewis gave possibly the best performance of the decade.

Of course, I gotta ask what was, now.
-
Juno probably, lulz
-
I'm hoping to see this movie this week.

It's funny in retrospect, but other than DDL Scorcese totally fucked up the casting of the leads in that flick. Leo is good but he wasn't able to pull off that part, and Cameron Diaz is just fucking terrible. The supporting cast (John C. Reilly, Brendan Gleeson, Jim Broadbent, Liam Neeson) is pretty fuck awesome, tho.
To get the thread back on track, I am waiting for this to show up in my backwater hick beach town in a week or two.

8. Gone Baby Gone
9. Eastern Promises
10. Death at a Funeral
