Title: Anyone hook their laptop/PC up to a nice HDTV?
Post by: FancyFeast on January 28, 2008, 02:32:45 AM
ANNNNNNNNND...
game from the couch?

I can apparently do that very thing with my new TV, I want to try out Team fortress 2 on it, AND use a x360 gamepad....

Yes, that is what I want to do.

ANyone else have a set up somewhat similar?  WHat are your experiences?

Yep, just this weekend I hooked up my laptop+wireless keyboard/mouse to my projector for some lovely Half-Life goodness (They Hunger, episodes 1-3)

All the time, although I pretty much just use it for watching TV shows, movies, and playing emulators.  Maybe I'll go ahead and redownload Titan Quest and give it a try on TV...

i've done this with both a tv and a projector. tops for porn and tv - nothing beats torrenting while watching. plus PCs are the best solution for HD viewing on the cheap due to massive storage and processing heft.

there is something very weird about playing PC games from a distance of more than a few feet though. it doesn't feel immediate the way PC games should.

Yeah, I did all of my Orange Box gaming via Projector using a DVI->HDMI cable.  Good stuffs.  Also nice for Sam & Max episodes, especially given their TV-ness.  I actually consider the 720p resolution something of an advantage - it allows me to jack up all the settings and the FSAA without worrying about dropping frames.
