Why did you pay for Norton?
The guy on the phone made it seem like I needed it.
However,I'm abit iffy on my new computer. It's big,too big,I thought I wanted a desktop replacement but I really don't.I'll give a couple more days to get use too but I think I'm gonna get something much smaller.Vista is cool though.
-
if you plan to play games, you'll want to keep it. yer gonna pay and arm and a leg if you want a discrete video solution in a smaller form factor.
-
I seem to remember someone on irc warning you 17in laptops are fucking huge

Textbooks. :-\

Personally, I think even 15"ers are pushing it. Since getting my M1330, I think 13" is the sweet spot.
-
I traded in some crappy DVDs at Gamestop and got Beautiful Katamari.
-
i have like three laptops now: an 11" vaio, a 14" hp, and a 17" hp. considering selling the vaio to tvc and getting a 12" like maf's.
-
12" woo
-
Nice labtop, Junpei.
Get Orange Box and let's play TF2.

most anti-virus programs slow the computer man than an actual virus

especially garbage like norton and mcafee.

I like Symantec Antivirus. It's like Norton but it's a stripped down version for companies. It's has very low resource consumption. I got a copy from a place I used to work at back in like 2002, and I've used it ever since.

kaspersky rox
having to find a new key every month kinda sux

That's what I am using now. Before I had Norton Systemworks, which slowed my PC down so much...I had it installed almost right from the beginning, so I had no idea how much of a resource hog it was until I quit using it. I think I'm going to try reinstalling some of the PC games that were choppy before and see if Norton was the reason.
I have run into a problem with Antivirus though. Occasionally it becomes a HUGE resource hog and slows down EVERYTHING until I reboot. I forgot the name of the process that's doing this and was told to download the latest updates to fix it, but I have the latest updates already.
I'm going back to Mac this year, so I'll put up with this shit a little longer and then it will all be irrelevant anyway.
Quick question that shows how little I know about PCs: Does running my laptop at a higher resolution versus a lower resolution also slow things down? I always have it at 1600x1200. (I don't mean for gaming, just general desktop stuff)

i watched resident evil - blu ray.
looks good and its full screen.
dark scenes look noticeably better than dvd and colours are good.

Indeed. And the director wants to release a follow-up!
A scripted movie adaptation is already in the works. Director Seth Gordon has said that the movie might be a sequel instead of a remake, telling the story of how the documentary changed both men's lives, as well as their continuing rivalry.
Isn't there a similar documentary out or being made about fighting games?
