Well the terms of my contract were up AND THEY WANTED REST OF MONEY. It hurt, and will hurt for the next two weeks as I live off of almost nothing (thanks rent/carinsurance/rentinsurance/creditcard/phonebill/carpayment/studentloan...) but IM FREE GOD DAMNIT!

In two weeks ill be free of that infernal credit card too MUAHAHAHAHA! F U ESTABLISHMENT!

No its not a new car, well it was kinda new when I got it in 2002. Its a 2000 Focus i've had since struck out on my own. Its been to Arizona n back. Dumped close to 50,000 on it myself, its at 107,000 right now.

Ill probably get a new car late this year or early next. I want to get my credit card paid off in a few weeks then work on my student loan a little bit to fix my credit score. Car paid off and Credit Card paid off will help a lot I think.

Probably a Prius, they do really well in stop and go and i'd rather join the movement of eco-friendly cars.

If this were a perfect world i'd get a Mustang bug it isnt.

I think in 2009 or 2010 they come out with the next generation of prius which will be a plug-in hybrid.  The way it works is that they'll now have much larger batteries letting you get around 40+ miles on battery power.  The battery as you can imagine, is recharged when you get home by just plugging it into a outlet.  Electric mode makes it cost about 2 cents a mile.  Plus there's of course that eco-friendliness of not using dirty gasoline.

I'd imagine there'll be a huge wait list for this like there was for the Prius when it first came out though.

I'm at a terrible phase in my life where good credit is beginning to be really important. My wife and I are kind of sick of renting and will probably begin saving for a house in the near future.

Before that happens, I want to try to start rebuilding my credit, which I shattered in college. I have a few old credit card bills i defaulted on back in my poor college days that I'm about to ressurrect payment upon. It just sucks dumping half of your check on something that seems intangible. Total is only around three grand or so, but bills bills bills.  :'(

Yeah my credit is probably a horrible mutant monster right now. I think getting two major debt sources paid off will be a big help.

Ya, but student loans are pretty long-term right? You don't have to pay all of that this year?

Aside from a trip to Vegas we are planning over the summer, I don't see a whole lot coming up that would prevent me from saving most of my upcoming money *knocks on wood*. This will hopefully be a pretty laid-back year.

That's actually quite good.  Put the on auto-deduct and forget about them, unless you're in a hurry to pay them off.  Most students loans have very small fixed interest rates so its honestly no worth worrying about them.

it's a great feeling to own something and not have to pay for it anymore

my issue is that i now have a few hundred dollars i need to sink into my focus before i can sell it this summer

Once the car and credit card are paid off im using the money that used to go to those things to add to the student loan...in theory.

We'll see what really happens. I wouldnt mind having it paid off in 1-2 years tho.

I think of my student loan payment ($40k for both undergrad and grad school) like it's a car payment, though.

My house was $450k, so $40k for 4 years of undergrad and 3 years grad school is a drop in the bucket.

Thank God I have zero credit card debit, or that would suck.
