Title: Excel Saga Appreciation Thread
Post by: MrAngryFace on February 01, 2008, 02:55:57 AM
Since Himuro has killed anime, lets remember one of the greats:

I heard Puni Puni Poemi or whatever is even more messed up

I used to get the Excel Saga comics but they bored me for some reason.  The anime just seems more appealing; I wonder if the manga followed the anime instead of visa versa.

Puni Puni was actually kind of disturbing and I couldnt watch more than half of the first ep.

It's okay. First 5 eps were good, the rest were pretty meh. Last episode owned for the NABEHAMEHA. Bought it from my friend for 80 dollars, sold it on Ebay a year later. Wouldn't watch it again.

Excel Saga is a one time affair. The best thing about Excel is PEDRO.

I read the first few volumes of the manga but never got around to watching the anime, which I hear is really different.

The best part was when these two guys hold up these spiky balls attached to their bodies, sniff them and go "STIIIINKY!".

I have FLCL, but its only 6 eps, where Excel Saga is 26 awesome eps. Himuro stopped at episode 5 and apparently missed the BEST EPISODES like the bowling episode. Jesus christ Himuro

No, I watched the entire series. I enjoyed the first 5 eps the most though. Oh, there was that baseball episode with the high school student and the ridiculously awesome hair.

I bought the imperfect collection, the box set released before the recent box set wihich has horrible shameful cover art that doesnt even represent the series accurately :(

The new box set with all the cute little things on the cover, right?  Which makes it look like a fan-servicey series? Oh man, it's so misleading.

hahaha oh my God:

If I were to buy it (and that's another one that'll have to wait till my next paycheck - I'm doing my best to reverse the damage Himu has done to the industry, but I'm only one man!), that would be the version I'd buy, because it's a thinpak set and takes up less space.

Do you guys listen to the English or the Japanese dub for Excel Saga? I preferred the English dub in this case. The chick that does Excel's voice in English was insane.

Japanese version. I found the English one mostly annoying. I didn't think the English one pulled excel's voice off right at all.

The first dub voice tried hard and wasnt horrible but then they replaced her, I heard the first girl lost her voice or some shit lol

I bought the first dvd of Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemy back in college when I liked the really insane anime, watched them but I thought they were a bit over the top for me (esp. Puni Puni Poemy)...
