Title: vagrant story 2
Post by: muckson on February 03, 2008, 12:07:36 PM
i've had it.  there needs to be a sequel to this game because it was one of the greatest stories in game history that was never finished, and it featured one of the awesomest characters:

ASHLEY MOTHER FUCKIN RIOT

that guy was so badass he would fuck your mom, and when your sister walked in he'd say, "you're next baby."  she'd be scared, but she'd do it, mostly because he has plus signs on his elbows.  she can't resist ashley, which is strange because it seems that game designers can.

he would take out titans with weapons that he found lying around lea monde and then rebuilt ALL BY HIMSELF.  after he killed them he learned magic and could cast that like a champ.  then he pushed 4000 pound blocks around.  he did everything.  you might think that it's just a game character and all characters are that awesome.  not true.  there are a couple, namely another super awesome dude:

SOLID MOTHER FUCKIN SNAKE

but he has lots of games and lots of story to go with it; not like ashley.  it looks like there may never be a sequel, or if there is it will be so far down the line that it turns to an "ode."  do you remember rygar?  he bashed peoples faces will a spinning shield.  he was pretty fuckin awesome too, but they took too long to make him a sequel and when they did the story sucked ass.  bionic commando is coming out, but it's been so long that it's going to be reinvented and suck.  ninja gaiden made it, which is hopeful after so long, but the story sucked there too and it was too hard for normal people to play.

or maybe it will go the way of kid icarus and never get play again.  it's possible.  it may already be too late and there is nothing we can do.

fuck.  sorry ashley.  people are just too fucking stupid.  if i ever get the chance i'll build a sword from stuff lying around and stab those that betrayed you in the face.

It's too bad the PSX port of Tactics Ogre is so glitchy. It's a great game.

vagrant story without matsuno?

Because Matsuno created VS singlehandedly!   ::)
80% of Matsuno games' appeal comes from the event direction, art direction and music anyway, for which the relevant people are either still at SE or still doing freelance work for them.  I'm sure Hiroshi Minagawa (FF12 director, Ogre/FFT/VS art director) or Jun Akiyama (VS/KH/FF12 event director) could do just fine as director of a VS followup.

and I think it's very likely that SE is in fact working on a next-gen VS sequel of some kind.  They've dropped hints about it in various interviews and we haven't seen any project from the main FF12 team yet (all the Ivalice spinoffs released so far were developed either by completely different teams or small fractions of FF12 team).  Plus, it would fit their strategy of trying to appeal to the European market.

the VS soundtrack is absolutley amazing, listening to it now. The music for the secret dungeon (cant remember what its called, the place where you can get the 5 pronged sword anyways) is absolutely beautiful and hypnotic

I am expecting VS to show up on the PSP in one way or another, be it the original or a sequel.

PSP Vagrant Story port by TOSE, now with extra loading and the ability to change Ashley Riot's class from Riskbreaker to Risktaker (but only in the last ten minutes of the game, and only if you fulfill a lengthy yet pointless subquest).

At least you'll always have the PSX game.  Treasure it.  It'll be a hard-to-find classic someday.

The port will probably be done by the same TOSE team that did FFT and suck, but I have high hopes for the sequel, Matsuno or none.
