Title: just got a psp slim
Post by: drohne on February 08, 2008, 10:15:54 PM
traded in my old psp phat on an extended warranty :punch

made a pandora's battery first :punch

also bought a 4gb memory stick :punch

ordered a psp slim hardcase from play asia -- the nonexistence of such a product was actually why i didn't trade my psp in earlier :punch

finally going to dig into my enormous psp backlog :punch

also going to rip me some donpachi, dodonpachi, raiden dx, strikers 1945, etc :punch :punch :punch

fuck, i missed a step making my pandora's battery -- didn't add the 3.60 m33 kernel or whatever, so i can't use it on a slim. and now i haven't got my phat anymore to update it :'(

would any of you be able to do that last step for me if i sent you my pandora's battery and the accompanying memory stick? you'd need a homebrew-capable psp fat. i could throw in a couple psp games or some money for your trouble

I followed this: http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780) TO THE LETTER.

Is my pandora up to snuff?

omg it's my personal tragedy in achewood form

i think i might just buy a used psp at gamestop, do what i need to do, and then return it...or trade it back in if it comes down to that

i guess that compromises the elegance of my extended warranty gambit, but i can spend a little money to carry donpachi around in my bag

Drohne, can you not hack it AT ALL or what?

my pandora's battery setup downgrades to 1.50 -- and you can't downgrade a slim to 1.50. i was supposed to go through one more step of adding a 3.60 m33 kernel to the memory stick, BUT I MISSED IT IN MY HASTE

i'm reading up on exactly what i need to do right now -- thanks for the offer t234, and i'll get back to you once i've got it figured out. if the process is messy, i might feel more comfortable doing it myself, even if it costs me some money

Yeah, I dunno how to just retrofit the thing. I would just unpandorize and repandorize.

So if you buy a new psp slim now you can't just mod it from your computer or something?

well, that was a lot of fuss over nothing -- my slim has firmware version 3.72, and apparently you can't hack anything higher than 3.60. correct me if i'm wrong. anyway, i've got my modded xbox for emulators, and i'll be happy enough to play psp games on my new psp

edit: apparently i am wrong -- i can hack my 3.72 slim. fuckin outdated tutorials. i need to unwind with some metal slug anthology

You can hack anything with Pandora, period

hm, it's just occurred to me that vertical-format shooters won't properly work on psp unless they include the option to flip the screen without flipping the controls -- i.e. to play them as sidescrollers. and i don't remember which ps1 games actually do. i'll have to dig my discs out and see.

HOLY FUCKIN SHIT IM PLAYING RAIDEN DX AND DONPACHI ON MY PSP

music doesn't work in donpachi, but both games have got the control options i need, and they play beautifully in tate mode. the slim's d-pad is a million times better than any other portable's. and 2d games look gorgeous when you let them run in their native resolution -- ghosting is much reduced

used a different program to make my donpachi eboot and now the music works :bow

i need to declare a moratorium on screwing around with my psp until i finish dmc 4
