Title: Rob Zombie looking to destroy yet another film, while talented director gets it.
Post by: The Fake Shemp on February 09, 2008, 03:33:21 PM
Rob Zombie, step by step, is slowly undoing everything I used to like about him by churning out unnecessary, bad remakes.  Next up?  Conan, possibly. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/35547)  Once again, Zombie is working on films that don't need to be remade and certainly don't need to be remade by him.  Will Thulsa Doom be portrayed by William Forsythe, wearing a Coors Lite trucker cap and toting a shotgun?  Maybe Sheri can play Valeria, but with tassles and a drunken lisp.  To top it off, have Conan (played by Sid Haig) dig up Mako's dead body and shit in his mouth.  Fuck you, Rob Zombie.  I can't believe I really liked you at one point.

But the best news this weekend was that an actual talented horror director was remaking a different film (http://actual talented horror director was remaking a different film), but this one makes sense.  Alexandre Aja (who did the really fun Haute Tension and criminally underrated The Hills Have Eyes remake) is taking a film that is ripe for a remake in Joe Dante's Piranha.  Piranha was a hokey, cheesy horror film to begin. What great, silly source material to work with to churn out an exciting, fun horror flick.  And even better?  He's going to make his version of Piranha in 3-D!  Day one!

Rob Zombie is a talented director. He should never be allowed to write his own screenplays again, nor cast his regulars, but the man has talent.

Also: 'criminally underrated The Hills Have Eyes remake'?

What?

I repeat again: WHAT?

What the fuck did that movie need a remake for? I've seen both, and the new one offers nothing new over the old one except a shitty nuclear testing miner town backstory.

agreed, but he can keep his some of his guys.  I get a squeal of delight every time I see Tom Towles or Johnny F. in a real movie.

also, High Tension was the shit.

While I won't say it needed a remake, I did enjoy the remake.  Not enough to purchase it or anything, but it was worth a movie ticket.

Hills Have Eyes remake - decent.

Rob Zombie - talented

He needs to do his own shit though and not remake stuff. I can agree with that.

haha, oh wow. That Animated movie looks like fan made shit found on 4chan.

He was playing clips of it when I saw it live. The quality is indeed atrocious. I've got to admit though, I was paying more attention to his wife in panties 10 feet from me.
