Title: KOF XII to be shown at AOU 2008 (OMG NOW WITH TRAILER)
Post by: CurseoftheGods on February 11, 2008, 02:49:29 AM: For those lucky enough to attend AOU 2008 on February 16th, SNK Playmore JP and Taito will be displaying King of Fighters XII (Twelve) in video format. KOF XII has been in production for the longest amount of time, compared to any other King of Fighters produced and rightfully so, as SNK Playmore JP decided to start from scratch with a new game engine and completely overhaul the sprites.

King of Fighters XII will first be displayed on Taito's Type X² and later ported to Sony's PS3 in 2009, with a possible release on the Xbox 360 in the same year. Tentatively, expect the Taito Type X² release of KOF XII in June/July of 2008.

I'm sure it will come to the US at some point, but PS3 games are region free.

also, despite kyo's theme, it seems ash is still the main character and the logo is 97's redone with ash's flame, i think. with him taking iori's and chizuru's powers before, he's probably gonna take kyo's now as he said in xi's ending, which might mean no kyo on xiii or he'll end up fighting orochi by himself in this one or something.

someone has to pimpsmack that bitch ash. i was hoping it'd be kyo. ;/ there's still orochi i guess.

kof 97 had the best story, and for the time gameplay, but after 2001 i wonder if there will ever be a suitable conclusion to thier stories. hopefully it will be another 97 and not a 2001.

I hope that's not the case. :( I realize that they went with that version because it's infinitely more recognizable, but I hope we get the older Terry as an unlockable.

No, that shouldn't make a difference. My guess is that character designer Nona just likes the older Terry look more than the Garou one. It's a new sprite, so it doesn't bother me, although I prefer the MOTW look too.

KOF storylines are generally "LOLZ" and make no sense, but KOF changes character ages from Fatal Fury and Art Of Fighting to make everyone around the same age. Maximum Impact is also in a different universe. I generally ignore this stuff and just play the games...fighting games and storyline never go together very well, unless they stay REAL simple, like in the games from the early 90s. I love how Virtua Fighter is supposed to have this "deep, rich storyline" which is never once alluded to in the games. :lol
