Wow, you'd get banned over GAF even before you clicked on send.
I do agree, though.

I agree with the OP.

I got bored enough that I clicked in that thread and these people are discussing ridiculous plot lines like they have some sort of real emotional investment in these characters. I really can't tell if they know it's fake or not!!!
-
When I was little I loved wrestling - Hulk, Andre the Giant, etc. Now I'm grown. Anyone over 20 who still watches wrestling is suspect in my eyes :-X
SMH
-
Yes, it is awful.
-
You have a problem with the thrusting and power embrace of two adonis like titans clashing in the ring?
-
"You watch movies and THOSE aren't real, so don't judge me because I like wrestling entertainment."
-my cousin and wrestling apologists everywhere
I'm not into the whole UFC thing, but that seems manly to me. The mixed martial arts explosion has really made wrestling fans look even gayer

those morons on GAF are discussing it like it's real though. ugh
"he should have won the title :( he deserved it"
"nah, he got beat pretty bad. I don't think he has it in him anymore"
WHAT
-
aw man did you see what happened last night? he was getting beat down for like 2 minutes, then he was beating the other guy down for 2 minutes, then he was getting beat down for 2 minutes, then he was beating the other guy down for 2 minutes, then they both fell down out of breath! then he pinned him and the match was over! oh man i didn't see that coming!
-
Amen Muppy. Wrestling is ghey.
Same w/ Football. :lol
-
agreed. Wrestling is fucking gay.
-
I used to watch it in the mid '90's... (admit it, you probably all did too) but haven't really found anything interesting in it in the past decade.
-
I never watched that shit, it was always gay.
WWF Royal Rumble on Genesis tho :rock

I go into those threads all the time for just about exactly the same reason.

You just now got the memo? Of course wrestling is gay. It's like a homo-erotic soap opera; watching The Young and the Restless or All My Children would be significantly less gay than than watching WWE.

actually some soap operas are kinda hot (Spanish ones in particular), so they get a pass from the pussy-loving-crowd. Or at least from me.

Well I didn't know adults were still this fanatic about it. I go in and see some otherwise respectable posters going on about this shit. It's frightening

Well yeah, I think we all did... when we were 12! These are adults for pete's sake
-
I've always found wrestling to be an erotic sport.

Wrestling has hot chicks fighting in lingerie too sometimes, but we all know it's just a cover to hide the ghey.
-
Wrestling is so awful it's embarrassing.
-
I watch on occasion. I do live in Kentucky though, so it was bred into me from birth.
I don't know, it's just the corn factor, plus the occasional humor. Back during the late 90's to about 2002, it was really awesome though because the plot was unbelievably unpredictable.
Every once in a while there's a good pro wrestling game too: (WWF No Mercy, Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006) that stirs my interest as well, but most of the times I just read the sites to see if there's anything funny/interesting and download the episode/PPV on torrent.
And, the old ECW kicks some major ass and is ridiculously hilarious.
There's also nothing like watching Undertaker throw Mick Foley off a 20 foot cage and then watch him continue the match with broken teeth, a hole in his lip, and a dislocated arm, followed by Mick Foley getting thrown THROUGH the cage into a ring covered with thumb tacks.
That's my extent of wrestling love.
-
yeah, that extent is still too much. :(
Sure they were always unpredictable, but it was dumb.
OH NO! SHANE IS BANGING IS HIS SISTER!
OH NO! STONE COLD CAUGHT EATING THE ROCK'S ASS IN THE SHOWER
O NOES!
-
Oh yeah, and Paul Heyman is fucking awesome.
-
I still watch it, but it's gotten so difficult to sit through an entire WWE show for the past few years now. I download everything, and just fast forward to the parts I want to watch and that's about it. The "product" (I hate these stupid smark terms) has gotten stale.
-
I'm getting a boner imagining Stone Cold and The Rock nude, wet and lathered up in a shower stall while Stone Cold eats out Rock's ass.
Does that make me gay?
-
I never understood how guys on a video game forum ... who watch ANIME ... collect ACTION FIGURES .. and play NINTENDO GAMES can bag on wrestling fans.
It's clearly something they did as children (watch wrestling) and now as an adult, it makes them feel young again. The same way you can discuss all the above like it was high art.
I don't watch wrestling now .. but did from 84-87 and then again from 95-99. How anyone can watch it now is beyond me ... but there are still grown men who are collecting comics ... an industry that has been shit for the past 20 years.
Get off your high horses and think before you speak.
-
I'm not bagging on it! I do think it's pretty hot, though. All those men with their hairless chests and firm buttocks...omgggg :drool
-
Wow, that was awesome real talk from Toxicadam.
Evilbore pwned!

I don't do any of those things :bow

Benoit vs. Regal at the Pillman Memorial > No Country For Old Men's third act. True story.
Wrestling's a good medium for pantomime style humor and aestheticized violence, two thing I like. But it requires more acceptance of weird conventions than any art form this side of opera, and even at its best half the shows are FFWD material.
Plus it's enough of a niche market that one company has basically monopolized it an enforced their uniform (shitty, shitty, SHITTY) style.
Now that I've talked about it, I've got an urge to find a lucha torrent site and see if I can't download some cruiserweight or La Parka matches.
-
So I can like it if I'm wild homo?
-
I know my hobbies are gay. ??? Still doesn't make wrestling any less WILD HOMO.
This.
Calling something gay on this forum doesn't mean we want to burn anyone who likes it at the stake. But some of the guys in that thread are as bad if not worse than the homos on our side of the fence saying they cried when they played Ico or Shadows of the Colossus. THAT is bad.
besides, with all this gay subtext, calling something gay on this forum might not be such an insult.
-
i cried when i played ico :-\
-
There are people on this forum who cried when Aerith died (not me!), got teary-eyed when Lt. Matilda died in Gundam (me!), or who teared up while reading Harry Potter books (PD!).
This forum is full of wild homo. And I love it. :)

Foley lives right near me, I saw him at Dairy Barn 2 years ago... was with my mom and she said "get a load of that guy over there!"... I looked, and saw Foley pull up in a recent-year Impala, wearing a bright red hawaiian shirt, and jean shorts. I was like "holy shit, that's Mick Foley" but I didn't go up to talk to him or solicit him for an autograph, because I didn't wanna feel like a cad =P When my brother worked at Blockbuster, Foley came in to trade in a bunch of his son's Gamecube games.
Though I agree with your points... the N64 WWE games were some of the only good things about that system, old ECW was fun, and every now and then there are some fun matches. But it's not something I really go out of my way to follow... I can't even remember the last wrestling event I watched on TV.
-
i cried when i played ico :-\
I cried while JO'ing during the prologue when I put DMC4 in for the first time. :Pjk
Me and my friends liked wrestling during that whole degeneration x thing. :lol
But then again I was just a little kid, it's excusable.

Because there is anime and videogames that are of a level that you have to respect them for what they accomplish and how they transcend simple childish amusements. Wrestling is always male soap operas, always childish and never rises above it. You can love it for the kitsch factor, but most anything beyond that is like crying at the ending of a Final Fantasy game.

Wrongo, buddy.

I use to watch wrestling. It is always a soap.

what's that dumb carnie word that wrestling fans use all the time like it's English
kayfeh or fatehwa or kefita
it means "I am pretending this is real and not WILD HOMO, but sometimes I know in my heart it is WILD HOMO"

I like that word. I wish I could use it without looking like a homo. Pro-wrestling's taint on the word makes it worse than cunt attractive Jewish person taco distinguished black fellow filthypaki nip sandnigger chink and american combined.
I also like how I am the least gay person on this forum.

You make some legitimately good points, Adam, but it doesn't mean wrestling isn't still pretty gay. :-X
Edit: Oops. Seems Ghengis already covered it.
