I'm getting my dinner ready right now (mac and cheese, beans, italian sausage, and stir fried golden potatoes with onions and bell peppers) :-*
WHO'S WITH ME?
-
I already had dinner.
-
I already had dinner.
I bet you it sucked.
-
I have to watch Heroes.
-
I'm working and when I get home I'm watching Running Scared or playing Half-Life 2. And I'll probably have a chicken pot pie for dinner.
-
BTW, I finally watched all of Running Scared this weekend. Its an alright film, but WAAAAAAY overhyped.
Play HL2 instead.

:lol
Running Scared was decent but it was overhyped. Luckily, I missed all the hype and noticed it after I saw it. Paul Walker is an atrocious actor too. God, he brought the whole film down.

Though I will say, that sex scene (with whatsherface from The Departed) is a straight 10 on my jerk-o-meter. :hyper
-
I'll be flipping back and forth between Hellraiser/Hellraiser II and Heroes.
-
It's on commercial right now, and my fucking sausage isn't done yet :(
I want to watch the second one tonight, but I've got a paper to write; I might just write it in the morning lol; my first class isn't until 11:30am anyway.
And tomorrow after class and a haircut, I'm going to the movies I think. I was to see The Departed or The Prestige. I'm leaning heavily towards The Departed

Oh most definitely.
Oh and the cheesy fucking happy ending WAS FUCKING BULLSHIT. klajdkl;sa; jfaskl;dfas

Hellraiser/Hellraiser II is a classic horror combo, if you can look past the fact that the sequel is not a horror film at all.

Is it good though? Worth staying up to watch?
-
Yes.
NO ONE ESCAPES US
-
Hellraiser II is a lot of fun, but it's not horror. The first one is almost a crazyed romantic horror zombie film with some weird Barker-on-Lovecraft stuff put in near the end - it's pretty great. The second one is like a dark fantasy fairy tale. Less horrorific, more bizare

I HAVE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU

The second one is on now; it's on commercial.
Hellraiser was a pretty good horror movie. I really loved the music. Also, for the most part the characters were very inventive. All the main demons looked awesome, in part because they were rooted in reality. Except for the one monster with the crow head and the giant head; looked like shit.
The ending was pretty underwhelming though.

:lol
Pinhead has some great lines. That and "THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR EYES" are great.
-
Second one is kinda meh so far. The sets just come off as quite uninspired. This is FUCKING HELL for Christ's sake. Show me something original.
-
I thought Hell is as some kind of crazy fantastical Escher painting was kind of neat, personally.
-
Looks half ass to me. The Labrynth is interesting, but everything inside it does not match it. The "plant life" or whatever looked like something I saw in a 70's fantasty movie. And the claymation is rather MEH here too. The Doctor is pretty boring as a badguy; I hope Pinhead isn't fully dead. Movie's not over yet :)
-
Doctor Channard is crazy.
-
I liked him better when he was a human.
Overall the movie was rather uneven; if I had gone to see the movie in the theater as a fan of the original, I would have been disappointed. After about 30 minutes it was clear the movie wasn't a "horror" movie like the first one, but that doesn't justify it being a rather average fantasy movie, if that. Like many fantasy movies it seemed to be held down by some cliches in the dialogue.
"You believe in fairytales? You should, because they come true. Even the bad ones..."
Whoa, thank you for that information!
As I said earlier, Hell should be quite an interesting area to tackle in a movie. Yet in Hellbound, Hell is rather...mellow. A labrynth that looks like it was borrowed from...The Labrynth, and some of the character designs/environments looked similar to 70's era fantasy romps.
To make matters worse, the movie offers some rather tasty peaks at Pinhead's past life, but then fails to expand the issue. It would have been extremely interesting to learn more about him and the other demons. Instead they all get "killed" like pussies, as if the writers ran out of ideas.
-
I dig it for what it is. It's a good fantasy movie.
The only thing I don't like is the muddled plot with her uncle Frank. Supposedly, the guy who played her father was supposed to be in it, but bailed out at the last second - so we got some kind of ridiculous plot device with Frank and I think the movie suffers as a result.
-
have you read barker's the hellbound heart, willco?
-
It was pretty obvious.
"Haha, I tricked you to follow me into hell lolz. Nevermind that your dad most likely went to heaven...trust me!"
"OMG Frank it was you all along!"
"That's right, now fuck me"
"Ok..."
*messes shit up*
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
:lol
Dude has been in Hell and still is falling for Christine's bullshit? Smack the bitch and violate her*
I'm not advocating that, I'm just saying that as an experienced rapist, that's what Frank should have done.
-

Nope. I've read few of Barker's stories. He's kind of difficult to read.
-
Hellraiser II is awesome, once again proving that PD has no taste.
"Haha, I tricked you to follow me into hell lolz. Nevermind that your dad most likely went to heaven...trust me!"
I don't think there is a heaven in the Hellraiser universe, dude.
-
how is he difficult to read?

Even better - the good folks wind up in Ypsilanti, Michigan where I can give them a tract EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK FOR ETERNITY MWUHAHAHA
-
I find him too verbose and uses a lot of language and references that are over my head. I'm not saying he's a bad writer - I'm saying I find him difficult to read.
-
Sounds like you'd hate Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter and the Berstein Bears for you!
-
Lord of the Rings is pretty easy to read, and are enjoyable books.
Also, that insult backfired since you're like the biggest Harry Potter douche on the face of the planet. Berenstein Bears are also more original than Harry Potter.

I was reading the Bernstein Bears New Neighbors yesterday; found it at my parent's house. Oh the memories.
Papa Bear was such a racist. "Spite fence" :lol

What did you try to read?
Start with the Books of Blood. I don't like some of the turns he's taken in his career so maybe you are referring to them. His early stuff is great. Books of Blood, Hellbound Heart, Damnation Game. . .
-
So I've watched both movies now (Hellraiser several times, II for the first time last night), and I think they go over my head or something.
I thought the whole point was that the puzzle box bought about Pinhead and the like, but it appears there's a lot more to the movies. II especially just went over my head, I think.
-
I read The Hellbound Heart a loooong time ago and have to agree that it's pretty good stuff. Barker's writing style reminds of Neil Gaiman, only...I dunno, more evil? I guess that's befitting. I'm pretty sure he was mostly inspired by Lovecraft, who also used overly descriptive/complex narrative in his works, which might account to why you might think it's 'difficult to read'.
After watching it again last night, the only problem I have with Hellraiser II is that it attempted to describe what happened in Hellraiser, but ultimately didn't.
-
Lovecraft is just a bad writer, but I've never had problems reading him either.
-
how on earth did you find barker "too difficult", then? his language is pretty pedestrian compared to lovecraft's unpleasantly purple prose.
-
Maybe I need to go back, but the last time I picked up anything with Barker's name on it was probably junior high and it just went over my head (keep in mind, at the time I was reading stuff way beyond my grade school reading level, albeit mostly mainstream drivel). I picked up Lovecraft in college.
