I was thinking of recording the sounds of my sink dripping for a good 11 minutes and add a very light kickdrum and highly compressed hihat over it and then be like "OMG CHECK OUT DIS NEW MNML CHOOOOON!!!!!!!" I'll d/l your track in a bit tho.

minimal techno is the most annoying genre to have risen to the forefront in the past 5 years

No I never have used any digital stuff for my recording - im all analog.
ThATS funny that they have software plugins for people who dont grasp analog/tape-machine mastery.

fair enough....
but I build alot of my stuff or buy cheap old stuff and fix it. I dont spend too much $$.
I also have over 250 instruments so I had to go scrounge mode to amass such a collection.
I got brass, strings, woods, a ton of drums....misc analog >twang< devices, many drum contact mics for recording all of the acoustic instruments (heh) a few other mics a DAT 4 track and some reel to reel machines and tape splicing equipment.
its basically a big pile of junk!

i used to play around with that sort of thing in the 90s, but i didn't understand it enough to really get a good feel for what i was doing, so i retreated from it.
whereas with computers i could instantly set up and sequence and make something which at least sounded somewhat like i wanted from the get go

I had to understudy someone to get the core techniques.
