Universal Pictures has announced a six-year partnership with Hasbro to produce at least four feature films based on branded properties.
The properties include “Monopoly,” “Candy Land,” “Clue,” “Ouija,” “Battleship,” “Magic, The Gathering” and “Stretch Armstrong.”

QFT!
That movie was fucking incredible
-
Clue rules so I don't see the problem with this
-
they should make Space BattleshipTM Yamato
-
they should make Space BattleshipTM Yamato
they were in the 90s
but it was going to be the arizona
-
The original Clue was pretty solid. I wonder if they will top it.
-
Is Ridley Scott still leading this genre revival? I believe it was Monopoly which was, uh, closest to his heart.
-
They should all be better than Transformers.
I think the success of Transformers was what made this deal possible.
-
they should film casey affleck and brad pitt playing battleship, in character as jesse james and robert ford
-
Let's think of taglines for these movies
Monopoly: Get ready to pass go!
Candy Land: How sweet it is!
Clue: Get a Clue!
Ouija: Something wicked this way FUNS!
Battleship: GET SUNK!
Magic: The Gathering: You're a nerd!
Stretch Armstrong: Plastic fantastic!

I think Pirates paved the way for wacky movie projects.
True that.
-
Stretch Armstrong: Pull his finger. Keep pulling.
Monopoly: No, you cannot be the fucking race car, I'm always the race car
Clue: This is the second film based off this particular board game, that writer's strike was well worth it
Ouija: You moved it, didn't you, don't lie
Candy Land: As if your children aren't fat enough
Magic The Gathering: You can pretty much guarantee no one in this film will be gathering any pussy
Battleship: This game is bullshit, you keep moving your pieces, I can tell
Checkers: why the fuck not
-
Monopoly: Tickets for this movie are either $10 or 1.5% of your gross adjusted monthly income.
Ouija: This movie is never getting made, nobody can say it and the Baptists would fucking riot.
Magic: The Gathering: Ten years: too late.
-
Magic the Gathering: $300 for a fucking baseball card?!?!
-
The Ouija movie will probably be the first to get made, since it will most likely be some cheap PG-13 ghost movie aimed at teenagers. It will likely star some semi-famous kid from a popular TV show. I could see maybe Miley Cyrus starring in it or maybe someone from The Suite Life, maybe Lindsey Lohan if she plays her cards right. It will gross $20 in it's first weekend, and top off at about $45-50 Million on a $15 Million budget, and then get an Unrated Edition DVD, and then a direct-to-video sequel that doesn't star any of the original cast.
-
oh man, I just realized that Hasbro is going to make movie editions of these board games. movies based on the board games
Clue: Clue: The Movie Edition
-
Ouija will definitely be made. Disney's Monster House was huge. They just have to follow that template.

That's so meta.
-
Monster House wasn't huge! OR Disney!
-
Not huge but it made $140,161,010 worldwide. Not too bad, eh? It made half that domestically.

underscores the mean side of people. Monopoly changes people, the nicest person becomes a monster -- as soon as they buy Park Lane, that's it, they've all changed. I'm trying to figure out what tone of comedy it could be. It could be a really big film.
Yes, Ridley Scott expressed interest in getting a Monopoly film going earlier, this mad dream is coming closer to fruition.

I wonder if Monopoly will have an Ayn Rand Objectivist bent? That would be interesting.

I'm thinking they should make it like a 1940's "It's a Wonderful Life" type movie, and Mr. Potter controls the whole town and all Jimmy Stewart has is a Savings and Loan over on Marvin Gardens, and he's starting to think about dropping out of the game, but then through a series of miraculous happenings, he manages to get Boardwalk and Park Place with hotels and then he's like:
"Just remember this, Mr. Potter, that this rabble you're talking about, they do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath? My father didn't think so. People were human beings to him. But to you, a warped, frustrated old man, they're cattle. Well, in my book he died a much richer man than you'll ever be, bitch!"

Monopoly has specific ideological roots actually.
In 1903, the Georgist [follower of Henry George] Lizzie Magie applied for a patent on a game called The Landlord's Game with the object of showing that rents enriched property owners and impoverished tenants. She knew that some people would find it hard to understand the logic behind the idea, and she thought that if the rent problem and the Georgist solution to it were put into the concrete form of a game, it might be easier to demonstrate. She was granted the patent for the game in January 1904. The Landlord's Game became one of the first board games to use a "continuous path," without clearly defined start and end spaces on its board.[4] A copy of Magie's game, dating from 1903–1904, was discovered for the PBS series History Detectives. This copy featured property groups, organized by letters, later a major feature of Monopoly as published by Parker Brothers.[5]
