I know it must be some kind of technique used to lure distinguished mentally-challenged fellows into buying more products, but it really shits me that TV ads are louder than the programs. I swear over here they are twice as loud as the show. Mute for the win, I guess.
-
its VERY fucking annoying.
-
Yea, they basically blast commercial volume at the peak in order to get you to look up at the TV.
-
i wonder if they pay extra for the DB shift.
-
Seriously, I have to scramble for the remote every time a commercial come on so I don't piss off my neighbors.
:maf
-
Isn't it technically supposed to be illegal to do that?
-
Isn't this more to do with regular programmes being 5.1 and ads just being regular stereo?
no
it's a proven psychological technique to make you look up and pay attention
-
it's also because a lot of people periodically leave the room when commercials are playing
-
Do you guys remember the old Magnavox tvs that had a smartsound feature that was designed specifically for commercial volume?
-
soon they will design commercials which get the point across even as you fast forward them in tivo

I bet 'The Man' buried that technology right beside the car that runs on seawater :maf
