Title: EA attempting a hostle takeover of Take2.
Post by: Madrun Badrun on February 24, 2008, 08:48:13 PM
Basicly EA has made a public $2b bid on take2.  Thats an offer for $26 a stock for a share that closed at $17 a share on Friday.

The take two board has twice declined the offer.

Take 2 isn't doing anything until GTA is released, they know that is going to keep them afloat for a teeny bit longer

I like how they set up a vanity URL for the bid:

Analysts are saying that the current Take2 value already recognizes the release of gta4.

Is submission not preferable to extinction?

I'm really tempted to buy Take2 stocks.  I have no idea how the market works though.  Does a stock open at the same price it closes at?

Well it depends if some of the exclusive licencing (ie FIFA) is contingent on them releasing it on multiple platforms. Obviously they will want their licenced games available to as many as possible.

But it would be virtually impossible for Western publishers to compete.

Isn't this the equivalent of buying a moneypit?

I don't see it as a really bad thing either.  Then again I don't care if midnight club and 2k die.

EA would be scary with Take2 also under their wing.
EA-Microsoft is going to be a shocking beast of a collaboration.

And it will be interesting to see the X720 be EA branded and not MS.

j/k before anyone starts - but that really would be game over for the industry would it not?

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

ea wouldnt take the xbox brand even if ms gave it to them for free

and even ea has got some sense of quality so they would never let ms build their console
