Title: I think I'm starting to lose my hair.

I've noticed a lot of hair coming off whenever I comb my hair.  I asked my folks back home about Propecia, but apparently it's fuck expensive.  I don't wanna be a baldy, I'm only 28 years old.  :'(

This is very weird, too.  My dad has a full head of hair, and he's 80!  There is one uncle who is a little bit bald, but like...not really, he just has a bit of a receding hairline.

Any other cueballs in here?  I'm not shaving my head, that's for sure.

Hair loss can also be caused by stress, not getting enough vitamins, and wearing a hat/bandana/some kind of head covering too often. Try to change things up a little, maybe take a multivitamin or something, and see if it helps!

Get Proscar.  It's the same thing but much cheaper.  Proscar is used to treat prostate diseases so it's usually covered by insurance.  Propecia is just considered a cosmetic drug so most patients have to pay full price for it.

My sister just PM'ed me and told me if I use Propecia I can't donate blood to the Red Cross for some reason. :/

I'd rather not take any drugs at all, honestly...are there any natural treatments to slow down hair loss?  That way I can just find a hot girlfriend and by the time I'm bald we'll already be engaged or married and then she'll be stuck with me. :rock

One of the questions I was asked before donating blood for the first time in Japan was if I'd traveled to Europe, how long ago I'd traveled, and then, as a completely separate question, if I had ever been to the UK.  I guess they may be worried about mad cow disease?

You need to start taking Proscar/Propecia.  All the other remedies aren't backed up by research.  Rogaine could help too but Propecia is most important in slowing down your hair loss.  

It's possible that you're just losing hair due to stress, like Nikki said.  But it's far more likely that the loss is due to male pattern baldness.  If it's due to stress, the hair will come back eventually.  But if it's not, then you're screwed if you haven't been taking medication.

No.  You can have accelerated hair loss at any age.  Usually, once you start noticing the hair loss, it's already been going on for quite awhile.  You just don't notice because the density was still high enough to mask the hair loss.

It depends on the patient.  There's no telling how much or how little the medication would help either.  With medication, you could continue to lose at a high rate or not only stop the loss but regrow lost hair.  99% of the time, the patient is better off taking propecia/proscar though.

I used to volunteer for the American Red Cross. :) I always enjoyed the questions that were like "Have you, in the last 6 months, had sex with a man who had sex with another man since 1977?"

Yes.  Many understand that patients can't afford propecia.

My hairs been thinning for a few years, still looks FAIRLY normal, but yeah, the hair loss is on its way for me too. Part of the reason I grew facial hair

SHAVE IT!

I'm not going bald, but I started getting my head shaved in late 2006.  It feels great and also means you don't have to do anything other than shampoo...get up n' go in the morning.

And you know who's to blame for this.  THEM DAMNED KIDS.

I get it buzzed, but it's right on the edge of it all being off...0.5cm razor!  My hair grows back pretty fast though, so I get it done monthly.

You'll never know if you like it until you try.  It really does feel great.

I dont use anything, my hairs not that bad yet, but ist thinning for sure. I doubt i'll use anything, im still not sure how ill adjust my haircut when it becomes noticable.

I was worried about my hair thinning last year and was all ready to jump into the Propecia/Proscar pool until I happened upon some forum of people issuing complaints about BRAIN FOG and permanently dimished sex drive from long term usage.  While it was probably just a bunch of anti-corporate conspiracy wackos and paranoids, it managed to get me worried about it enough that I decided to avoid the whole situation.  Also, I sort of hate the idea of being reliant on a cosmetic product.

If it falls out, fuck it.  Maybe I'll get the top of my head tattooed.

I started losing my hair recently. I turned 20 couple months ago :(

I'm thinking about just shaving it all off. I have brown skin (as brown as many Black people) so maybe I can pull off the Black bald thing.

I'm losing hair and going grey. Do I give a fuck? not really, grey hair is dignified and if I start to loose to much of it I'll just shave it (with a clippers).
