Rabbit Fur Coat”, with its precise intimacy, felt, for all its brilliance, like a boutique side-project. “Acid Tongue”, in contrast, is on a much bigger scale. You get the impression that this is where Lewis’ focus is now – that if Rilo Kiley still exist, then they’re far from her number one priority these days. Fine by me: as “Acid Tongue” proves, Jenny Lewis is better off on her own.
long as it isnt like under the blacklight, I really didnt like that album much :(
its not that it was bad, its just not my thing
Spin really hated on it, lol 2.5 stars. They think its overproduced
I've never listened to any of her stuff. I'm utilizing my new what.cd account now.
Well to be fair I was using overproduced in place of 'hollywood and not indie'. Im not sure what 'indie' sounds like - I always assumed it had more to do with the label and less to do with the music.I still think that's a weak criticism on the magazine's part.
I'd swap some of the top tier around but other than that I agree with your list...cept id give acid tongue a small bump up as well. I wasnt big on takeoffs n landinsTake-Offs and Landings is great.
Pitchfork's review is out today.

The reviewer seems to agree with me that Lewis' shift from indie pop/rock and alt-country to more conventional, older genres is ill-advised. And, while much of the material on the album is listenable, it's pretty dull.
