Season 2 is a step up over Season 1. The last few episodes were pure awesome.

The plotting and pacing in the continuity episodes of S2 are ridiculously good.  Someone should scoop up these guys as script doctors for big budget tights-and-capes movies, something they talk about a bit in one of the commentary tracks.
