"I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired," Favre, a 17-year veteran and three-time NFL MVP, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message.

"If I felt like coming back -- and Deanna [Favre, his wife] and I talked about this -- the only way for me to be successful would be to win a Super Bowl. To go to the Super Bowl and lose, would almost be worse than anything else. Anything less than a Super Bowl win would be unsuccessful," Favre said in the message.

Favre has shown us that he is just as thoughtless, impulsive, and emotional off the field as he is on the field. He's going to be traded to a new team--probably Tampa--not learn the playbook on time, have no chemistry with the widereceivers, and end up slinging and slanging his way to interception after interception and loss after loss. If he was a little more thoughtful and temperate, he would realize how this will all play out.

The sad thing is that when Rogers begins to start he won't be given a chance (assuming Favre isn't traded). It's inevitable that Rogers will go through the typical rookie QB bumbs, and when Favre is sitting on the bench yet having TV camera on him more than on the field it'll be very hard for Rogers to succeed. This is beyond selfish. Favre threw his teams Super Bowl chances out of window with one of the worst INTs I've ever seen, now he feels entitled to suddenly take back his word and create a circus show?

I highly doubt that. If it's any consolation though, you'll probably be better than the Falcons!

What people seem to forget about the Packers last year was that they had a really good TEAM. They prospered when they threw short passes, which is good because Rodgers isn't accurate from long distances. I expect them to probably win 9-10 games and compete with the Vikings for the division.

The Lions will be lucky to duplicate last season's 7-9 record.

Sure anything is possible. It's within the realm of possibility that my Atlanta Falcons will go 16-0 and beat the Patriots like red headed step-children in the Super Bowl. It's just not very probable.

But don't mind me, I'm one of those "likes to bring you down" guys that mocks the notion that anything is possible in the pre-season. No, I deal in the probables- the teams that have a history of being good are probably likely to be good again, and the teams that have a history of being bad and making bad decisions will likely continue to do so. It ain't rocket science.

He had a great year last year which was ruined by such a distinguished mentally-challenged throw. A friend of mine made the comparison that Favre QBs like Ali boxed: any boxing coach will tell you Ali's fluid dancing/lack of defense is a recipe for disaster that shouldn't be practiced...but it worked for him. Slinging and slangin' is a big no no in most offenses but Favre made it work for awhile. Seriously, at times he looks like Uncle Rico (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZWZANBFyX0&feature=related)
