Title: Will there ever be a perfect console port of SSFII Turbo?
Post by: Rman on March 04, 2008, 06:35:58 PM
I don't why there is still not a perfect console port of SSFII Turbo arcade.  I thought Capcom Classic collection V2 had an arcade perfect port, but it does not sadly--it uses the PlayStation code.  Is it the native resolution of the arcade that is difficult to reproduce?  Third Strike is perfect, MvC2 is also perfect--perhaps due to it running on Dreamcast hardware, but SSFII is still not perfect.

I guess a hacked PSP is the only way to go

Not without using a CPS2 emulator. I'll just wait for HD Remix aka the definite version.

It's still hard for me to go back to Super Turbo after playing SFIII.

why do people still cling to SFII? I find it mostly unplayable now.

Nostalgia (the easy answer).

Super Turbo is not unplayable, it's a game that imo has aged very well.  It's very well balanced in comparison to new games.  And I am fairly new to ST so it`s not nostalgia either.

Edit: I donīt think STHD will be Arcade perfect, but that will hardly matter now that they are making a rebalanced mode.

What's wrong with the Dreamcast one?

What? The CCC version is the CPS2 one. The only reason it's in CCC2 is because one of the developers is a tournament SSF2T player and wanted a good version for tournaments.

There is frame delay in the CCC2 version.  It`s like 3 frames.  Most scrubs like me wouldnīt care, but the pros...

I did not know about the frame delay. Very lame, considering the intent in putting SSF2T in there in the first place.

I'm sure it's something like the post below.  Something meaningless to anyone but hardcore tourney players.  I know you can adjust a ton of stuff in the DC version though.

:lol You've got to be kidding me.  Fanboys will never be satisfied.  Where did this come from, anyway?  It's the first I've heard of it.

These people are never going to be happy with any version of SSF2T.  They will find something wrong with HD Remix, too (going beyond aesthetics).

Nobody noticed the frame delay for MONTHS.  Not even the top players complained, I think.  Until EVO last year when a japanese player (donīt remember his name) started to complain about it.  Indignation started to show in the other top players.  Some people didnīt care because the ones that were suppossed to win were the ones that won anyway.  After the tournament, some guys made some tests that showed the game had frame delay.  But I still find hilarous that people didnt noticed it for months :lol

To OP: The CCC2 doesn`t use the PS code, it`s the arcade code.

Didn't they rebalance the HD remix as well?

The PC and 3D0 had very good ports of SSFII Turbo.  I'm not sure if they were perfect conversions though.

The 3DO version also had ~10 second load times before each match. I still loved it, though.

I think that the SSFII: HD 'original' mode is based off the playstation version too.  :(  You could always buy a cabinet.  They aren't that much these days.
