Title: Master film craftsman, Michael Bay, to produce re-imagining of Rosemary's Baby
Post by: The Fake Shemp on March 04, 2008, 08:30:26 PM
It'll be ten times more AWESOME than Polanski's version! (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=5008)

Is this through his Platinum Dunes production company or whatever that is?  These horror retreads are getting boring.  I thought the Omen remake was awful.

Why bother remaking movies that can't possibly be improved upon?  What's the point?

Yeah, it's through his Platinum Dunes production company, Ichi.

It's a weird choice...I mean, they've usually gone for the more violent/splatter-type movies, but Rosemary's Baby is an arty horror film.

That said, I'm not a fan of the original (I thought the ending was laughable), and I don't think it's a particularly sacred cow - I'm sure the new one will be fairly different if they want to get the young crowd interested.  Much gorier, more violent, maybe a hot sex scene between Satan and whoever plays Rosemary.

Is there even any action in that movie? I fell asleep when it came on TV awhile ago

Yeah, not a big fan of the original. Guess Michael Bay is going to shit all over something else

It's not a traditional horror film.  There are no real "shock" sequences or anything like that.

Yeah, it has some feminist subtext as well.

How could you people not like Rosemary's Baby?  Mia Farrow is so fuckable.  It would probably rank highly if I enumerated my favorite horror movies.  And the rape scene done in a somewhat 60s-ish psychedelic manner is awesome.  In the new version, I bet that scene happens Terrible Music Video style with a remix of Dragula playing in the background.

That your love for '60s-style fashion and psychedelia may override your taste in this instance.  It wasn't meant as a bash, dude.

STFU.  I generally dislike 60s psychedelia.  I was amazed that a reeled in form of it, as seen in Rosemary's Baby, could be used effectively.

I thought that dream sequence was awfully cheesy.  I was really groaning through most of the film, I think it's aged really badly.

The only Polanski film I enjoy is Chinatown.  I hate his Macbeth, too.

If you think Repulsion, Fearless Vampire Killers, Cul de Sac, The Tenant, and Rosemary's Baby aren't great films, I've lost as much respect for you as you've apparently lost for Patel.  Chinatown is where I think he lost it.  He was much much much better when he was writing his own shit.

If not for Rosemary's Baby, I wouldn't have known that Mia Farrow used to be beautiful.

Even without Mia's good looks, I"d have thought that Rosemary's Baby was one of the best horror movies of all time.  Rosemary's Baby had a subtle yet tangible psychological suspense which so many horror films lack.

rosemary's baby, along with the exorcist, are two of the few movies -- especially from that period -- that still make me shiver like a schoolgirl. the sense of oppression and paranoia in rosemary's baby runs at a fuckin' fever pitch. :bow :bow polanski :bow2 :bow2
