Title: Weeds is great!
Post by: GilloD on March 05, 2008, 09:46:00 PM
So I finally started to watch Weeds while traveling abroad. It was the only thing our hosts had in English and I loved it. The first season I liked plenty, but it didn't quite catch. The second season should be required viewing for budding young writers- The transition from "I'm a character designed to fill an appointed role!" to "I'm Andy!" is wonderful. It's also interesting to watch Nancy, who started out as a sympathetic character, become everything the series sets us up to hate. She stars out having to deal and ends up continuing to deal just to support her increasingly lavish lifestyle which keeps getting more lavish because of- ta-da!- dealing. The end of Season 2 and it's serious repercussions were long overdue. I wish Season 3 was out of DVD :(

Fuck DVD, I need season three on Blu-ray!

The first two seasons came out in July, so I figure we'll see season three hit DVD and Blu-ray this July.

Isn't it way expensive on Blu-ray, dm?  I remember seeing Sopranos for 80 dollars.  And that was only half a season.

Weeds is like $5 or $10 more on Blu-ray than DVD, actually.

edit: Looking at Amazon, they're cheaper than the DVD versions for some reason.

Season one is $21 and season two is $27.

weeds is pretty bad ass.  i watched it due to the EB love and i find myself infatuated with the series now.  makes me want to light a spliff every time i watch an episode.  the special features on bru-ray make it even harder...  :pimp

Were the special features in the Bluray versions any different?

@distant:  Wow, that's pretty good pricing.  Even the MSRP is competitve.  Hopefully, we will more TV on BD at reasonable prices.

All the special features from the DVDs are in 1080p, and there are some Blu-ray exclusive features, too.

Yup. Lionsgate did a bang up job on the Blu-ray releases, and only charged $5 more.

SHAME ON YOU, HBO, SHAME ON YOU. BITCHES.

I shudder to think what Band of Brothers and Rome are going to cost on Blu Ray

I still haven't seen 3.  How is it in comparison?  While I like the show, it's always teetered on a certain brink.
