OMG at that last one. :lol :lol :lol :lol
I'm sure the game will be very homoerotic but will that be enough to keep Stards happy? :-*
-
Alot of it is the texture resizing they had to do, and I'm guessing they dumped some of their fancier shaders, because, well we all know the reason by now.
:gloomy :gloomy :gloomy

My eyes can't repel awesome of this magnitude!
-
You're a Nintendo fan so your eyes should be used to shitty looking games by now.
Pretty much.
-
God I need this
-
mmmm, dx8
-
Goddamn tinting. It must die. MGS4 is not in the Matrix.
Then again...MAYBE IT IS
-
rsx texture and shader bandwidth rock the 8.1 visuals
:bow :bow power of 2004 :bow2 :bow2
xenos would overheat trying to apply that many lo-fi multitexturing effects, xfags cry
-
I can't stop looking at how bad the leg in the last picture is. The background in shot 2 looks PSP ish
80 million dollars in dev costs. 8)

this game is probably only on a one layer bluray disk. it's 60 fps though, right?

wow, response trolling to year of ps3 has gone way up
you'll all learn in time

I blame me :-\
It was bound to happen though with the talking point being pushed so hard since it was decided to forget about 2007 being awesome.
-

I don't think so.
well then that splinter cell game at the very least has better graphics.
-
I don't really think the shots are that bad. Well, the third one is bad. But the first two are bad? :\
every game has bad textures somewhere
-
Yeah, the first 2 look pretty nice. Though they could be cutscenes.

The third one is obviously a cutscene...it's got Otacon on the screen.
-
Yes but can I fist bump?

That was hilarious irony with a pinch of true fanboyism.

MGS4 would mostly like have real time cutscenes like all the previous MGS games.
-
I'll wait for real gameplay shots. The gameplay videos taken from trade shows had pretty average graphics as well but then again they were betas

Like COD4? That you liked to troll? :P

Green Tint: The game
i doubt it'll look that when you play the game, though--the commercials don't ahve any of these weird tints
anyway, the year of the ps3 continues
-
What happened here? I remember some of the trailer movies that looked utterly phenomenal... go figure, them graphically scaling back a PS3 game. I'm still really hyped for it, it's still my most wanted PS3 game.

Stop being distinguished mentally-challenged. MGS never has prerendered anything. The gameplay video from awhile back wasn't a beta. Aside from further glitch testing and some minor polishing, that part of the game was finished.

jap devs
although i agree with this sentiment, again we see the boards biggest Sfag throwing previous heroes to the wolves.
The PS3 is in trouble if this shocking trend continues
Not really. It's not getting any Japa support anyway. When FFXIII is really unveiled, I predict either massive tears or massive braggadochioooo

The game still looks excellent.

Not really one exception-- maybe Project Aces.
For a game that needs more then 50GBs of space, I'd expect greatness. I'd expect it to be not green and have textures/visuals like the first tech demo(LOOK AT THIS MUSTACHE!!!). the second shot isn't too bad but alot of stuff is really flat. The 3rd shot confuses the fuck out of me and the leg(?) looks kinda poor.
I don't understand where the green comment comes from...it's poor CMYK compression or artistic choice. Take your pick. Has nothing to do with, like, polygon pushing power.
Textures/visuals have nothing to do with the size and more to do with the power. RSX is obviously not what Kojima was told the PS3 had. The third shot confuses you because it is meant to confuse you. It's a bad shot. If it was part of a screenshot package released by Konami, they suck. If it wasn't, then it's obvious implicit trolling.
Furthermore, the mustache is still there. I still think the hair and mustache and musculature in the final snake model is very impressive. It's obviously where the poly budget is.
Kojima never said it filled a dual layer BD....it was never specified. People just ran with it.

capcom. and polyphony, as little as the bore likes to hear it.
i think mgs4 looks good. it hasn't gotten back to the level of that first trailer, but the art direction is still really strong, and apparently the trade show demos were 60fps
-
iirc, the demo's hovered between 30 and 60 fps depending on how much action was on screen.
-
the early tech demos were pretty wow-inducing, but i knew they wouldn't reach that level throughout the entire dev process. looks good enough, i'm getting an MGS game in hi-def and the art is awesome.
-
ace combat 6 (30 fps blah blah blah) and blue dragon both look good for Japanese developed titles.
-
memory right?
tell me then Cohen, what about id's Rage and it's megatextures? it's 2 dvds on 360 and 1 on blu-ray...
-
SMH AT PARTICLEREALITY
-
you guys are nuts. this game looks fantastic.
-
no it doesnt there is a bad floor texture in the third shot
-
oh...
thanks Cohen.
-
Nobody has ever thought "gee this game won't fit on one DVD. Let's compress all our textures to make it fit"
btw I think this game looks fine overall, if just dissapointing considering the early demos shown. Th green is...weird.
The green isn't in every shot/video Konami releases...I really think it's bad cmyk...
-
I just wanted to know about textures and taking a lot of space part, whether it's id's megatextures or some other doesn't matter much.
and you confirmed it so thanks.
-
except for wii games, which dont use textures
-
also they use a unique Anti aliasing technique called Nothing
-
Those MGS4 screenshots look pretty good, especially if the game's running at 60fps. People just need to start having realistic expectations and stop believing Sony's hype about the PS3's power.
-
Is it really that surprising that MGS4 doesn't look like the initial demos? I've learned not to trust Sony's prerelease videos and screenshots.

-
Different scenario Smooth. The initial mgs4 demo was running on an engine.
Yes, but wasn't that before the PS3 hardware was finalized? I wouldn't be surprised if the devs were using a SLI setup with GPUS more advanced than the RSX. After all, Sony was promising 2 x 1080p and 60fps performance with every game.
