Do you need anything other than a game which supports net play?
-
for fat ps2 you need the modem.
for slim you don't need it.
-
Step 1. Power Off your PS2
Step 2. Throw it away
Step 3. Buy a Xbox 360
Step 4. Now you're online!!!
-
I have a fat PS2.
damn it
how much are these modems, and is it worth it to get online with this console?
-
depends, for what game?
most online gaming is dead now (capcom canceled RE outbreak and Konami did the same with MGS3S for examples)
-
I was planning to buy a few games for it. Like Call of Duty 3 (is 4 out on ps2?) , some other shooter, Killzone etc.
-
4 is next gen only.
does 3 support online though?
-
socom games (all of them) are still very active

Yes I saw the box today, and it does.
-
still i don't think it's worth it, just get a ps3/360 later for more and better online games.
-
ps2 online? As McDragon said, move on.
-
Monter Hunter online on the PS2 was totally awesome, right up until Capcom pulled the plug on it. It still had a great online community. :(
-
Why do they do that?
-
It was a free service, so I'm sure Capcom was losing money on it.
-
tribes aerial assault was the best online ps2 game by far
amazing community when it came out, tons of clans...
a few of the devs contributed to community feedback often and even added new features like dedicated servers (pretty amazing at the time)
the devs also made area 51 after being absolved into midway austin, a few of the notable tribes:aa members are mentioned in the game credits, it was pretty awesome
its pretty dead now and not worth playing but I was way into it back then, ps2 online is long dead now
but yeah mcdragon answered your question, lol nostalgia

hmm, is there any way to check how many people are online with games like COD3 and Killzone?
