Title: Xbox 360 trade-in
Post by: cubicle47b on November 02, 2006, 05:30:38 PM
Would I be a huge jerk if I traded in my Xbox 360 to EB because it freezes on me periodically (when it does it, it does it every 15-30 minutes after I restart)?  Would I get a call about it a week or two later from the store because of this?  Also, any idea what the trade-in value is?

I'm currently overloaded with DS and PS2 games and I've got Burning Crusade in January so I could easily wait until the 360 finally has a price drop before picking another one up.  I just want to know if I'm going to get hassled about it by EB or end up fucking someone else over in the end.

edit:

BTW, it was manufactured January 7th which is one week after Microsoft's cut-off date for their "problem" batches.

you would be a jerk, but I can't blame you.  I would trade it into a pawn shop.  You're likely to get more for the system from a guy that doesn't know much about the systems value and its problems.  But look around for different pawn shops.  And no, they can't do anything to you after they've purchased it.

they will test it anyway so I doubt it will be sold to anyone before they find out it is broken, don't worry about it.

trade in was $220 last time I checked.

They offered my buddy 160 about 2 months ago.  I convinced him to take it a pawn shop where they gave him 250.

The thing is, most of the time it works fine.  And then on some nights it locks up like crazy until I get pissed off and stop playing.  I'm going to easily make it through the in-store test but I have no idea what will happen from there.

Nada.  They  can't do anything to you except look at you next time you walk in and say "That guy gave us a gimped 360" and then spit in your gutted new game.
