“Our expectation is that because of our shortages at retail during February, we will sell less than PS3,” he says. “That’s not a surprise to us. I don’t know what Sony’s reaction will be to that, but it will definitely be a bit of a hollow victory. The competition sure didn’t show up [in February].”
Greenberg says that when Xbox 360 has been in stock, Microsoft’s console has outsold PS3 two-to-one “every single month.”
“I can tell you that we’re not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray disc association regarding integrating Blu-ray to the Xbox 360 experience,” Greenberg says. “We really do believe that it’s games that drive console sales.”
“And we don’t know what will happen to Blu-ray. Is it the next DVD, or the next UMD? Your guess is as good as ours.”
“People bought Xbox 360s this holiday for Halo 3 and Bioshock and Mass Effect and Guitar Hero and Rock Band. They weren’t buying an Xbox to watch [the movie] 300.

“Our focus for 2008 is extending our lead against the PS3. That remains our focus, and we remain confident that we can do that. … Whether it’s by installed base, games library or online community, when you add those things up, you’re going to see us continuing to grow, and leave Sony farther back in the rearview mirror.”

Who was it last month that was saying 360 wasn't in shortage, then I posted links to it being sold out on like 4 different retailer websites and they never posted in the thread again? Calcifer, ToxicAdam, and abrader I think.
Anywho, if 360 wasn't in shortage last month it wouldn't have closed the gap so much as supply improved in February. I don't know how anyone paying attention to the sales throughout 2007, particularly in the last few months of it, could think that January was anything but an anomaly.
