it absolutely rocks your lame faces.
-
Mad Max called and it wants its props back.
-
huh? the trailer looked absolutely horrible. don't 10 movies like this come out every year
-
that's how it was sold, but that's not what it is.
it's essentially neil marshall telling the ultimate boy's own tale writ large.
i had an absolutely wonderful time. it's a shame that many people won't give this film a fair shake, because it just absolutely dances around tropes, stereotypes and conventions we all know with a smile on it's face the whole time.

Only if he's going to use them!
-
i'm stopping any hyperbole here because i don't want people who don't enjoy it to come back and say "zomg you said greatest thing ever" when it's not my intention to GAF this movie.
i'll just say this:
1) it's not a mad max clone, though road warrior along with many, many other 80s films figure largely into it (to list them would be to ruin surprises)
2) i found it quite enjoyable and well worth my full priced evening showing money.
3) many of the people walking out of the theater had big goofy grins on their faces and excitedly discussing scenes
there are strong elements of british comic book / science fiction sense of "cool." It's not guy richie or anything else like that. it's rather more tank girl or the like than an attempt to emulate american action films (though not the horrid tank girl movie)
it was to me, just a great, fun film. not for everyone, but it was certainly for me.

The Descent (original UK version, not the US one with the botched ending) absolutely rocked my socks, so Im down for Doomsday. Will I see it in theatres? Probably not. But its something Ill probably blind buy on Bluray without much fear.
-
:bow Best bad movie since the Renaissance. :bow2
-
I am going to go see Doomsday at a company movie day next Friday.
:bow my company :bow2

I've seen that at the local rental place but I've been hesitant to get it, now I know not to. :(

yeah, it's pretty bad

They're doing some animu Batman stuff to coincide with the release of the new film, they should do the same for Superman when the next Superman flick comes out.
I'd LOVE to see the Japanese interpretation of Superman. :lol
-
i think the ultimate interpretation of superman remains yet unwritten.
too many people try to relate his humanity to try to give us something to latch onto as an audience, but i think this is a bit of a disservice to the concept.
alien raised by middle americans who is amazingly secular?

it's sooooo goooooooooood
-
The movie was definitely fun. The main female protagnist was totally the female version of Snake Plisken. Good times
I wish they would have had her wear an eye patch for the whole duration of the movie but maybe that would have been too much.

I just watched this, and Eric P is right, as usual. Although I disagree on this point
i found it quite enjoyable and well worth my full priced evening showing money.
I'm kinda glad I rented it. I dug the movie, but it was rather reminiscent of higher-end low budget fare. I'd still recommend peeps check it out, mainly because I am sure it will be like 7 dollars in every bargain bin soon.
-
I'd go and dig up my old post where I laid out all the reasons that I didn't particularly like this movie, but I don't feel like it.
Someday I want a film that doesn't just deal with the aftermath of a huge viral outbreak, but shows the outbreak itself.
Andromeda Strain and Invasion of the Body Snatchers are kind of like what you're looking for.

i wouldn't buy the film or anything of that nature. i rented it again from netflix and i enjoyed it then as well.
of course last night i was able to overlook some komedy to enjoy Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao in Wheels on Meals.
-
which was the point

I can't believe this movie exists. Awesome.
