Title: Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime... I did not know this was a kids' game!
Post by: Ichirou on March 16, 2008, 06:12:59 AM
And I mean, geared towards the REALLY young set.  When I bought it, I just figured it was a standard action RPG with tank battles starring the slimes from the DQ universe.  But this is definitely designed for younger players (10 and under, IMO).  Five hours in and I've already rescued about 63 out of 100 slimes.  If the difficulty level doesn't go up a little bit, I will probably finish this by tonight.

I turned it on literally for two minutes and I'm already up to 66 slimes.  Man, disappointmenton.  I'd be playing Wild Arms XF if I weren't so fucking broke right now.

It's not a bad game by any means, I'm just not the right audience for it.  This game would have been rocking my socks off about 18 years ago.

if only they'd put adorable cartoon characters on the box to warn you, or released it on a children's machine or something

Yeah, it's a good game.  I should just have gotten Luminous Arc instead, but it looked way too much like generic animu style RPG.

Luminous Arc is pretty average overall

Its got some good moments though, I finished it so It must be OK

"If you like Witches that definitely helps" (protip: read the gfaqs boards for this game)

MAF enjoyed Luminous Arc a lot, but I wanted to play as a slime.

I played for another two hours and I'm already up to 81 slimes.  I will probably finish this by tomorrow, and I only started playing it yesterday.

Easy =/= kids' game.
Easy = game for old farts.

Kids are probably better at games than us nowadays. I'm sure kids would cream me at N+.

I don't know about this.

I played for a little bit on the train on the way to work this morning and I'm already up to 98 slimes.  Only 2 left...definitely finishing this today.

So I'm going to go to Akihabara afterwards and since I am BROKE I will use my credit card - which should I get? Wild Arms XF or Luminous Arc?

I naturally loved the game, but yeah the challenge leaves a bit to be desired. Especially once you learn a few "tricks" that could help secure you a Tank Battle victory 99% of the time. I own the original Slime Morimori for GBA but haven't played very much of it though.
