Title: What is a good romantic comedy?
Post by: rodi on March 16, 2008, 11:19:58 PM: More like, I want to watch a romantic comedy but have no idea which one? Recommend me some, eh?

I was going to borrow one from my neighbor but she's watching a horror movie in bed with a guy right now...IN BED woot woot!

The Holiday was awesome (well, at least I thought so), Amelie, Love Actually...pretty much thats all I can think about right now. I never used to watch romantic comedies. I'm getting ones of those pregnant kind of urges.

omfg you're on crack. it's so distinguished mentally-challenged it's awesome. except for the whole gay james gandolfini aspect. the movies makes mexico look soooo bad. maybe that's why i like it so much

also, if you haven't seen it already, shaun of the dead of course.

It is a horrible movie. Yeah, but most romantic movies are depressing. Tomorrow's monday and I want something that not only raises my hope in a romantic life for myself but also makes me laugh. Laugh. Laugh!

The Mexican is still one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Eric P has made the best post so far, IMO - watch The Apartment, rodi. You don't mind older movies, do you? It's REALLY good.

It's a good movie but I can't stand Billy Crystal.

...or you could try 'Sleepless in Seattle', which is practically the same movie but with Tom Hanks instead of Billy Crystal. *

*it's nowhere near as funny however

All of those are at least in the neighborhood of the genre. If you rent Sabrina or Charade, for God's sake get the originals with Audrey Hepburn.

Watching the remake of Charade with Marky Mark was the most puzzling cinematic experience I've had the last few years. Can someone explain it to me?

woody allen is so divisive i really have a hard time suggesting anything he's done.

personally he's my absolute favorite director and i'd watch home movies of him fucking dogs but i can understand why people hate him.

i think that manhattan is bit more "real" in its depictions of relationships while also throwing a comedy veneer atop it.

Not really a romantic comedy but there is some of both in there. I swear the extra 30-some minutes in the director's cut make all the difference in the world. I never really cared for the theatrical version but I really love this one and the commentary with Crowe and his real mother is pretty hilarious. Definitely worth hunting down.
