I've only put in 2.5 hours, but it's a solid game. It's at least as good as the past several mediocre Mana games. . .possibly a bit better. It plays decently, and it's geared towards single player play. It's kinda easy, but I'm using it as a bedtime game, so it fits well.
Square's done a decent job of salvaging this franchise after its terrible start. 40 dollars is kinda pricey for a DS game, so I'd wait for a price drop here. At 30 and below, I'd give it a buy, with a caveat or two about liking kinda simple dungeon crawlers.

Geared towards single player? Really? I was gonna stay away from this one because I thought it'd be useless without at least two or three other people to play it with.

So far, yes. Even still, it's not a great game, but if you like dungeon crawler-y stuff, you can do a lot worse. I love these kind of things. Still, 2.5 hours, it might not be too late for Square to do something to fuck me.

Yeah, I dig those types of games - Tales of the World rocked my socks and I even enjoyed the too-short Rocket Slime for what it was.

It's not really a game like Tales though, it's a SP experience, and the dungeons arent random I believe - Bebpo compared it to a Zelda-ish game

But even in single player mode you travel in a party full of NPCs, right?
