I don't pay attention to the names of editors, but is there anyone decent left there anymore?
-
who?
-
riccardo is still there. he kinda strikes me as someone who will stay there if the money is good though. he was promoted up the ranks like super fast.
-
who?
-
Him?

All these guys quitting Gamespot and Gerstatattamannanangate have given Gamespot more publicity than ever before. No one ever talked about that site before this stuff. It always articles and reviews from 1up and IGN that got all the attention.
-
So everyone is leaving and yet they aren't hiring anyone? By Q4 they'll be fucked.

Gamespot has gotten more publicity, but it along with IGN has always gotten the most traffic (1up is a distant third). Gamespot always has been fairly popular since its videogames.com days.
I stopped taking Gamespot seriously since Greg Kasavin left. He was one of the best game reviewers on the web, imho.

Not much of a surprise.
I remember him a little from the hotspot. His voice was monotone. Like, monotone, monotone. Even when he was enthusiastic his voice was monotone. :-\
Still, its unfourtunate that this will have little to no effect on CNet. Hope all the former Gamespot people end up at Gerstmann's new place.

HIGH FIVE
-
So many people have quit Gamespot, now people are joining up just to quit.

the sort of high quality discussion you just can't get on GAF! ::)
he's been working there for five years, FYI, and he's got a lot of integrity and talent, which obviously were going to waste there (the latter prior to gerstmanngate if we're being brutally honest.)

Your former employer ruined my credit over 12 issues of GFW. They also still owe me 24 issues of XBN, 13 of OPM, and 7 of GMR.
GAF has gone in the shitter, I have been around it since 2002.
I've worked in a dairy department and frozen my balls off and loaded thousands of gallons of milk and juice, eggs, biscuits, cheese, butter, yogurt, and creamer by the ton and got paid 6.40/hr for it. That man on the GFW podcast who worked in the meat department had it right, and I would give his boss a Spartanburg ROHO if ever I saw him. Random thoughts.

One notice for payment, no others sent. I can't find who to pay either, so my credit is fucked until I do.
-
I only got one notice.
-
why people know who these guys are, or CARE, is beyond me

THEY TOOK IT EASY ON YOU MAN

.
QFT Greg Kasavin is the only person from Gamespot and one of the few reviewers names who I ever learned in the pre podcast days (him and Ivan Sulic on IGN but for different reasons).
Games journalism is a sham job with no real integrity that lately seems to be trying to create faux drama in order to regain the interest of a public that is largely become smart enough to realize we don't need games journalists.

I dunno, I think Jeff Green still has his balls.

the "who gives a shit about the writers" movement is just as annoying as the cult of personality types
Does anyone say OH WHO THE FUCK IS THIS COLUMNIST when they open the Times? The Post? Hell, even TV Guide has Ausiello and some other writers that have "fans."
I'm not putting Brad on the same level as Maureen Dowd or Krugman or anything, but yes, people care about where their opinions are coming from...especially the avid readers. This bewilderment has to be fake.
edit: And yes, a lot of them BLOW ASS. But a lot of them don't. And I like knowing where people like Shawn Elliot and Brad Shoemaker were coming from and what they liked.

Yes, I do
I only know Ausiello as the guy who jerks off over hinting at the latest LOST that week - but that's more as a fan of LOST, not a fan of Ausiello
case in point: you are a cigarillo

once a year you can get a free credit report through https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp which will tell you that information
i've used it twice so far and have found it quite helpful
i found an old $20 charge that i didnt' know i had from a cell carrier 6 years ago

I have a handful of reviewers across four different sites that I read for PC gaming reviews, and have read them for long enough that I know which things push their buttons, and when to ignore or pay special attention to one of their criticisms or praises. It's the only way to handle the 10000 reviews written for any given title released.

oh no not brad shoemaker. without his indistinct critical voice gamespot will be an exact replica of its former self

Of course at GAF they care more about reviewers, that's because over there review scores are more important than the games themselves.
