I've played three consecutive matches now, with different hosts, where multiple people said the following:
1. "What a waste of $60!"
2. "These matches end too quick!"
3. "I'm going to go play Call of Duty 4!"
4. "Call of Duty 4 is way better!"
I do agree that Ubi Soft has neutered some of the game settings. It appears they've altered the gameplay online to make shorter matches, inc omparison to some of the Attack & Defend matches that lasted on the original forever, but the result is unsatisfying, short matches.
The maps are very unbalanced and the inability to pick a spawn point (the original gave you two locations to spawn from) is pretty lame.
In addition with horrible netcode resulting in awful lag for lots of folks, glitchy online play (clipping - oh yeah!) and screen tearing in the multiplayer (which never happened in the original, even if the visuals were toned down), this kind of feels like a step backwards.

Mrs C is gonna be heartbroken :(
Dude from all the stuff Ive read here since signing up, your wife sounds fucking awesome.
"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps mista, and youll nevah seeah me no more"
fixed.
-
No idea why they rushed this out before GTA. They should have held it for Q4.
-
fixed.
Every time I say something nice about dcharlies wife, somebody always adds some Lynyrd Skynyrd lyrics to my posts.
After that distantmantra thread this mornin, I dunno.
-
the proof was in the lack of 4 player co-op
-
They've limited every player to three respawns in Attack and Defend - it really kills that game mode. Most of the maps aren't balanced enough for such short rounds for that particular mode and when friendly fire is on, it really sucks losing a respawn to some idiot fuck face.
It was my favorite online multiplayer mode and I can easily say it's better on the original. Also, most of the new maps are rehashes or mediocre.

people play online modes other than coop terrorist hunt?

Attack and Defend :bow

i don't think even you play terrorist hunt
-
I never even played Terrorist Hunt on R6 Vegas because of the random spawn being removed in Lockdown(?). It was all I played on R6 3 on Xbox though.
Mainly played Attack & Defend :bow, or the one VIP one with the fat bald guy who only had a pistol.

Are you sure this orange juice wasn't supposed to be sent to the whitehouse?

Are you sure this orange juice wasn't supposed to be sent to the whitehouse?
My friend have it to me today. It tastes like orange juice but I can also taste something else(its really bitter) and Ive felt find of funny all day.
You sir, are drunk.
-
I make it a habit not to listen to distinguished mentally-challenged fellows in gamestores anyway. I liked GRAW 2 and that wasnt that well received either. Not sure why COD4 gets so much clout for doing something so basic.
-
I haven't played the SP yet - maybe that is good. Terrorist hunt is still fun, though. Attack and Defend is dead 'till they patch.
CoD4 is awesome because of the experience system it employs and how very, very balanced it is. Matches are a satisfying length and a lot of fun. Great modes. One of the most polished multiplayer games out there.

No way. I'm just really tired. I mean if I was drunk I wouldn't of been able to type correctly.
Trust me, you have been slightly drunk all day.
-
I hope so. No LVU.
After extensive time with the new Villa map, I have decided that it is pretty awesome.

I don't know man, why would my friend take advantage of my love of O.J.? And, wouldn't my parents notice?
Somebody gives me a thing of spiked OJ, that ain't taking advantage, that's called good looking out. Your parents might be drunk too.

???
I don't own shares in Activision! That makes no sense.

I actually got booted - no joke - because I ran out of respawns before the rest of my team did. This, despite the fact that I was the only team member who got the intel and got it near the extraction point. The rest were just killing each other. It's called ATTACK and DEFEND, not TEAM DEATHMATCH. Stupid host. :-\

:bow COD4 :bow2

damn u suk

It is darn good. I think it benefitted from a great beta and public stress test. EA is doing it with Battlefield. I'm not sure why Ubi Soft opted to pass on something like that. Maybe they were in a rush to get it out before Grand Theft Auto Eye-Vee dropped.
damn u suk
Again, the only person to go after the intel and the only person to sniff the extraction point. The rest of my team was spawn camping and the opposing team was smart enough to - y'know - try to stop me from carrying the intel. As per the game mode instructions!
-
i used to hate that shit in halo 2, being the only dude actually going after the flag
-
Ghillie suits > SWAT guys? Say it ain't so. :'(
I really want to like this game.
-
Yeah, I'm a big fan of the original and the multiplayer isn't living up to its pedigree. I'm going to try out the single player tomorrow. Terrorist hunt on Villa was super fun, though.
-
Is the multi at least on par with the first Vegas game? I had mega fun with the demo last year.
-
I honestly don't think so. There are some things it finally does right and there are some things it absolutely does wrong. I think I prefer classic Vegas multiplayer, but I want a little bit more time with it. At this point, it just feels disappointing.
-
I haven't played any versus yet but I'm having a blast with 4 people in terrorist hunt. Finished all the maps on realistic and unlocked the achievement, messing around now.

Sorry-- the game booted you or the host player did?
Only on Live do you encounter such retardedness. I played some Halo 3 matches recently where one little kid was getting livid, and I mean LIVID, that I kept "stealing his kills." Whatever the fuck that means. He teamkilled me twice but the match ended (with me as MVP, eat it brat!) before I could kick him. Then another match the same night, a shotty snipers 4-on-4 match, had these two morons just start team killing the other player and I, laughing like Beavis and Butthead the entire time. THAT'S "smh."
-
i got booted from condemned 2 match because i eviscerated them, fuck noobs
-
Sometimes it's fun to just turn the tables on people on be a dick yourself. If anyone on my team says "that's MY [weapon] or [vehicle], BITCH!!", and then berates me for picking it up, you better believe I'm turning right around and killing the bastard.
-
Okay, the opening level for the sequel is pretty darn good. That said, they're using a new graphics engine and the motion blur is ridiculous. Really, really over the top. There's screen tearing to boot, so I'm not quite sure what's the point of bludgeoning us with motion blur.
The gun porn is pretty great, so far.
-
so is this game worth $39.99? i'm 2 hours away from heading to fry's
-
would you say the 2.5+ UE engine is better than UE3 (well, in this game i mean) ?
it seems like people across the board have issues with UE as it is - perhaps they should have left it as is ? :(
The game from a texture and lighting perspective, is a good improvement upon the original.
The screen tearing, motion blur and lack of polygons does make me wonder why they just didn't go with the modified UE 2.5 engine they were using. That was, at the very least, smooth.
The multiplayer doesn't have the fucking awful motion blur that the single player does. I don't know why Ubisoft didn't give us the option to shut it off.
hyp... If you're a fan of the original, I say it's worth $39.99. And I'll play with you online.

i rented the original and liked it... this whole XP bar thing is enticing though. i love me some RPG elements in shooters.
